The voting system. What bothers me is that half the population votes for a candidate they don't even like. They just vote to feel like they have their duty.

I think I am going to start a campaign urging people to protest our idiotic political system by simply not voting. Of course, the republicans would all still vote, so it would be a failure.

Far right conservatives bother me a heck of a lot, especially the free speech fanatics. The free speech fanatics should have no qualms with this since I am just representing my freedom of speech.

The fact that people actually give money to people who are campaigning for presdiency. I mean, how stupid can we be? Why encourage such a filthy use of money.

And I can assure you the world will continue to work this way as long as there are people in it.
That being the case, and it IS the case, it's always better to wield the big stick.

Whether that is true or not, you were using this as a moral justification. But it is not. At most it is a practical justification.

It would be far better to urge them to vote for a third party candidate than to urge them not to vote at all.

Funny that, considering you lot didn't like it much when England was doing it to you.

Things I dislike here:

1. How things are becoming more and more Orwellian in nature over the years. Whether that is due to the major influences shifting or by it's own merit, it's still crap.

2. That the media has been so successful in manufacturing people into thinking there are only two political parties worth voting for. This is changing with the younger generation, who are voting for the independents and the greens much more, but slowly.

3. The lack of interest and recognition in education and culture in general.

I asked you to explain your point before; if you'd like to continue to snipe at me instead of expounding on your beliefs, that's your problem.

I simply listed some of the issues I had with my country as the thread was intended for. It was you that came along and started "sniping".
I've explained all I'm going to explain. Besides, you seem to be looking only for an explanation that suits your clouded view of the world.

The hypocrisy of "We're the greatest nation on earth," when our student aren't in the top ten, our deficit grows faster than weeds, one sixth of our population doesn't have adequate health insurance, etc., etc.

A new problem I have is a lack of animal rights in America.
Schools being underfunded.
The fact that corperations hire immagrants and never get in trouble for doing so.

France is drowning in bureaucracy and bureaucrats. This is my greatest hate of the country. The people here love nothing more than filling in endless forms and waiting months for bureaucrats to lose them or otherwise screw up and give you more forms to fill in. The French people adore paperwork, they must do to employ so many people who's job it is to shuffle pointless pieces or paper around and pass them on to other equally useless bureaucrats to do their bit of shuffling too.

I have just pissed my self laughing, please refrain from such behaviour in the future.

WE may not have an empire, our economy may be trashed our cities turned into slums with people living in sheds or 30 to a house and sharing beds and we may still be ruled by the inbred descendents of the scumbags that invaded us a thousand years ago, but damn it I am British and I will now form an orderly queue for the bathroom to clean myself off.

Red tape, particularly in mining, drilling, power generation, farming, and manufacturing.

Environmentalism is running muck. It's not just about keeping the air transparent and the water from catching fire anymore.

Upper middle class and some more affluent people getting their but kicked by taxes (bad for small business), the tax system is broken for the bottom brackets, the tax system can be hard on small businesses.

Rarely any attempt to protect consumers from predatory business practices unless there is a scandal, and then socialism is proposed.

No incentive to keep manufacturing domestic.

Affirmative action lets people get hired or accepted into colleges without being the best candidate.

The Borders are not secure and there is no effort to systematically remove illegal aliens, and there are little or no penalties for companies that hire them or illegals that steal identities.

The prison system is broken, fails to curb gang activity, capital punishment is only used for murder 1 and even then hardly anybody gets executed.

Gun control exists and there is no logic to the end result the laws produce...and only for law abiding citizens.

Privacy is dwindling- even without patriot act provisions being used.

Government-run healthcare programs suck compared to even the worst private insurance, and now they want to take it all over.

The economic model for providing services to the truly disabled is outdated by more than a half century. Removing illegal aliens would help free up money for those services.
Unemployment insurance is not suitable to the current situation, mainly due to the policies listed above.

Most of the biggest free speech fanatics are liberal. Those that want free speech and protections against any curbs on religion are usually conservative or libertarian.

These come to mind right off but not necessarily in this order.

Not enough national pride/patriotism.
Unstable economy.
Too much reliance on world market and foreign industry.
Too many liberals (more than 0 is way too many).
Too much greed/ selfishness.
Not a firm enough hand in diplomacy.
Not enough industry.
Too much of a nanny state.

Do you regard yourself as "fascist?"
