No one knows that I'm only 16, which is excellent, because I can speak to adults on my own level without them treating me like an idiot.

Wait. I just told you I'm 16.

Great. Confused

HEY, when I was a 5 year old, they treated me like a 5 year old! HEY, I was around guns, and didn't play with them. I knew a LOT about biology, electronics, aviation, etc... I WOULD have known about computers if they didn't cost millions of dollars, etc... When the costs finally came down a few years later, I knew how computers worked and were built! So I don't discount what people say merely because they are young.

Ah, well, you're in the minority.

Congrats to you for not having the BS ageist superiority complex most adults tend to have.

Now I've got to work on my teachers...

Around here, I don't think SteveK is in the minority at all.

One of my favourite scenarios is where I'm deep in conversation with a 3 year old, and some idiot NT adult butts in to talk to me. I ignore them. They get quite thrown by that.

I am ageist in only one aspect. I know that, as a general rule, older people have more experience. All that means to me is that I don't expect a 3yo to be familiar with string theory or a 16yo to have visited Knossos.

I'm here because nobody in my family and friends group understand my AS. I receive help from other aspies, and I try to help others with my poor comments. Also, I discover a part of myself everyday, in all posts on the forums.

I can be myself and tell you about my problems, obsessions, anxiety, . . . and I know you understand me.

I am here to find those who are like me.

For once in my life, to find a kindred spirit.

To find other people who walk their daily life in the same shoes I wear.

To ask for guidance. To give guidance.

To look in the mirror and recognize the face staring back at me.

because i always knew i was born an alien, and here discovered i'm not the only one.

so many interesting topics and people, it's almost unreal.

and the viewpoints of all of you help me not to give up myself, not to consider me as 'a being that has to change herself in order to fit in' but more like someone who has the task of finding out an excisting difficult but interesting way of solving things.

I originally came here to find out more about AS but now I'm here because I like the company of others on the spectrum.

I don't know about Knossos, but by sixteen I had visited The Bahamas, England (London), Israel (Jerusalem, Tel Aviv), and Jordan (Petra ruins) as well as most of the 46 (United) States...

Edit: and Canada (forgot about that)
