Arrow New York Times, Science section, article on background noise. I thought this article was very interesting, and had to laugh that it "bothers" so-called "normal" people too.... they're just too unaware that they are even bothered, apparently. It takes pointing it out to them, for them to realize

Intersting. Oddly enough, I sleep with a box fan on and need some sort of background noise - I have lived with ringing in my ears all of my life, and it helps me ignore it.

I think the constant noise made by the device would bother me just as much as hearing people talk and being distracted by that. I like some background noise but a constant noise would probably just give me a headache.

never in my life have i heard nothing, it would be nice to hear it once Evil or Very Mad
2 of my lady friends sleep w/ a fan on, and on the ground so it doesn't move air? there wierd like me, like i like them Twisted Evil
