Civilisation is at a tipping point now, we will either confront the massive environmental challenges of our times as a collective force all doing our bit, and maybe some amazing scientific discoveries will help such as alternative energy sources to the oil we are so dependent on. I think its a long shot that we will be able to save ourselves and hopefully the majority of animals and plants on the planet that we seem to be loosing at a ridiculous rate. I believe that it can happen a revolution is coming I just hope its not too late.
These are very interesting times, the world economy is going to collapse as you cant keep ripping resources out of the earth as if its an infinate supply. There will be massive shortages of basic things such as fuel and water and food and we need to all work together to try to come up with solutions and to share the little we have. Hopefully human beings have evolved enough at this point to work together instead of tearing each other apart as we have historically. Time will most definately tell.
Either way there will be a radical change to the world we are used to inhabiting right now.
Get ready for the most insane ride of your life.

We are close to nuclear fusion and solar power is becoming better and cheaper so there is hope. _________________ Even in the darkest of times there is light to guide you.
I predict, though I am no clairvoyant, that humanity will take one of two paths during this century;
1. Humanity completely and utterly assimilates into itself. The boundaries of race, class, neurological wiring, physical or mental illness, gender, nationality, and so forth will be completely eradicated. The world will become a "Global Community." This will likely bring mass advances in...everything. Since scientists will no longer have to compete to outdo scientists from another country, great minds can correlate and bring their unique viewpoints together to create wonderful technology. Sure, solar and nuclear power are on the agenda, as so is hydroelectricity, but I wouldn't be surprised if, by 2099, energy exists as we can not imagine it today. Maybe they will invent a way to power electronics with sheer willpower. Medicine will likely also see great bounds. As the world will be unified under one culture, there will be relatively universal agreement about what needs to be accomplished in the arena of healthcare. As countries will no longer exist, less resources will be spent on warfare, so more resources can be allocated to education, science, the development of the arts, and the general welfare. With the cultural blending of sorts, I expect that the artistic fields will see a new revolution. Music will incorporate both the modern computerized beats and the organic sounds of the all-natural instruments of the indigenous "Natives." Paintings will express both nature and "pop-culture." The field of writing will be...interesting. Perhaps many different languages will still persist, giving school children plenty of subjects to learn and adults plenty of new hobbies. Perhaps one "global language" will take place, though it will likely take more than a century to see it's fruition. While it is impractical to believe that Earth will become a utopia in these century--sure, different factions of humanity will still have battles with each other, disagreements will still run rampant, and, of course, not all faults of humanity will be eradicated, this century has the potential to be the stepping stone, at least, to greatness for humanity.
2. Humanity completely and utterly disintegrates into a million different little factions. Different classes--whether it be based on race, nationality, social/economical status, "genetic superiority" or a combination of such---will see each of the other classes as different species. I would hope that the factions would leave each other be, but I recognize that this is humanity. As one of the "classes" will attempt to prove it's superiority over the others--yes, just like the modern era, I am aware--rebellions will (and currently are) run rampant. Everyone will be attempting to establish their version of utopia. Those who value science over all else, for example, will push for more scientific advancement; those who value the arts will push for an artistic renaissance; those who want blue-eyed, blond-haired, pale-skinned humans only...well, we all know how that goes; war will be an every day reality. Many different "pockets" of humanity will be isolated in different regions of the Earth. I imagine that progression will not have as much of a chance as it should to occur during this era, as many people will be too busy trying to pry the pieces of bombshell from their arm to sit down at a laboratory or sit down at an art studio and create. Of course, the scientists and artists exist in every era, so someone will be running test and building new technologies, someone will be painting the next great work of art, writing the next Earth-changing novel, or playing the next game-defining song; it is unlikely, however, that such works will be able to defuse among humanity as easily as it currently can. Hopefully, someone and some bits of humanity will still be standing on the New Year's part of 2100.
The future is likely to be some sort of mixture of the two aforementioned scenarios. In some ways, humanity will come together as never before, bringing a togetherness that can redefine our species. In some ways, humanity will rip itself apart, creating artificial boundaries where none should really exist.
Whatever the next eighty-eight years will bring, there will be trials, there will be tribulations, but, hopefully, there will also be progression as we can never imagine today.

I agree with this and considering the second choice it actually happened before during the dark ages which humanity regressed with technology, politics, and etc. If we are to avoid this we have to let people who are scientists, artists, philosophers, and others like them to be in charge. They seem to me to think with logic and to be more open minded about ideas, and they can new radical ideas to find peace. _________________ Now with that logic, it makes me insane, but what about you?
What makes you nuts?
The world is a mess.
The mess is full of color, beauty, laughter, happiness, sadness, pain, misery, and everyone can relate to this crazy world. For we all live

So we may have a Golden Age or another Dark Age. _________________ Even in the darkest of times there is light to guide you.

While I would like to believe the future will be a lot better, judging by recent events and studies and such, it will get a LOT worse first. Pollution will continue to get worse, much of the animals and plants will go extinct, and humanity will hit the maximum sustainable population (the last one will probably occur in the next decade). Not to mention the wars, global economic collapse, etc. Technologically, the next hundred years will have a lot of really cool stuff, but humanity is going to really screw up things even more.
In Greece, 68 percent of Greeks are below the poverty level, with suicides on the rise.
Meanwhile, the Euro Zone is collapsing, with bailouts being requested in Spain and Cyprus.
Austerity measures are killing Europe.
And it's all in the interest of keeping the banks fat and happy!
There will be (world) revolution in my life time with the rate that we are headed towards economic oblivion.
Inequality cannot continue, when combined with environmental exploitation, under such circumstances.

We'll be able to do that only if the old way of doing things is overturned. Now. In the next ten years, if we don't do anything, then whole new generations will have to pay for older generations' crimes.
As for the collapsing of the economy, it has already collapsed. Austerity is the only answer it would seem from those who rule. Have they no concrete answer?
The only way out of this hell is to get rid of failed policies, and gear society up for radical change, for economic and social solidarity on a grand scale. To do that, the old must make way for the new.
Quote:
there would be wars caused by lack of non-renewable natural resources
That would just be the aftermath. Before that, old economic systems, tried and true, would fail. New ones would sprout from the earth.
I know, I know, this all sounds apocalyptic. But here's the thing:
The old way of doing things is defunct. In the past, once the old way overstayed its welcome, revolution would sweep it aside.
Where's our revolution?
We've had the Arab Spring-which admittedly served to only replace one set of leaders with a new set of leaders; exploitation still reigns.
We've had Occupy Wall Street-which petered out amid a campaign of lies and slander as it failed to radically alter society from the bottom-up.
Advances in biological technology will raise questions about humanity that have never been faced before. The religious right will seize on some of these issues as their new bugbear.
The international left will become strong again, and they will remember that change requires violence. There will be a lot of violence, and some of it will be for the better.
The US government will become more and more isolated on policy issues, and people all over the world will begin to question their assumption that the US is a force for good.
The Muslim-majority states will face a choice: will they respect minority rights, or will they give in to the fever-dreams of a new Caliphate? Some will go one way, and some will go another.
by the end of the century our technology will be practically the same but things like global warming will have became worse both of these have happened because of the focus on pleasing the crowd instead of real technological advances (like iPhone type things [no offence to anyone who may work at apple]) and people won`t do real work on helping the enviroment off camera.

We'll be faced with all kinds of ethical problems like transhumanism and genetic modification which could cause a great chasm between the rich and the poor. Who even knows what will happen to the third world countries.
A WWIII is a very likely possibility, I find it highly suspicious that there are so many troops from all around the world fighting in Iraq and Afganistan. Countries are just sending troops there to 'help the civilians' but there is really an ulterior motive driving them to be around in that part of the world. Oil. I wouldn't be surprized if there are underground deals being made and money being passed around now already to ensure oil supply to select parties. When the oil avaliable in the world does hit a critical point these deals will be dropped, countries will get angry and wars break out.
I also worry that the arts will be decimated due to technological advancenments, although I'd imagine this to take more than a century. For example think about photography. When cameras were first invented photographs were rare and cherished, as cameras became more widely avaliable photography became an art and still is now, but as more people get hold of cameras photography becomes less appreciated since every man and his dog can buy a good quality camera and be taking snaps. Also as cameras evolve and take on new features (perhaps like capturing sound and smell) photographs will be capturing so much of reality that it loses its form as an art. I could see this happening with music too. Electronic music and synthesizers are used more and more readily in music. In the future where global warming issues hold the highest precidence, humanity will be pushed into focusing its efforts on improving technology. Eventually it could come to the point where computers are so advanced and people are so busy improving technology to fix up the world, that all music would be made synthetically by computers.
Haha anyway just some silly ramblings of mine. _________________ Your Aspie score: 157 of 200
