I am so proud of my 3 ASD son. He has a communication delay, along with other things. He just started a school for children with developmental delays and he loves going to school and he loves riding the school bus home. I am so proud of him.

We spent the summer picture reading (he can read words, but we were working on his communication skills). He has a fair amount of echolalia and jargon so we picture read, so he cannnot memorize the story and repeat it all day. Well, for the past few nights, he has decided that he would picture read instead of me. It's the cutest thing hearing him string a sentence together and using his imagination. I am so proud of him.

He has also gotten better about our morning routine and now will just come in our bed and snuggle with me until it's time to get up for school. I think we have made a break through and he now knows that I don't want him to hit, bump or poke his brother or his sister. He hides and does it and have been doing it much less, so I feel we have made progress. Now, we just need to completely nip it in the bud. We have been working on replacing hugs with "a big thumbs up!" and he seems to really like that.

He has such a sweet and sometimes goofy smile and a laugh that it just makes you want to hugh and kiss him to pieces! He is coming out of his shell so much and will come and ask you to play with him. He likes to play "this little piggy" and "tickle monster". He loves to run and jump and even though is gait is a little off, his balance is suprisingly good.

My DH is a super nerd and now has turned to the boys into Animaniac fans. It's so cute hearing my 3 yo singing the entire "pinky and the brain" theme song. My DH has found a way to get the boys and him to bond over some super nerdy things and I am so thankful.

A few months ago, my world was out of control. I am so thankful that we are all moving forward as a family and my kids are happy. I don't know what the future holds for us, but today, I feel hopeful.

Thanks so much! We have to celebrate all the positives. Like is not easy, but on days that it comes together, it's beautiful.
