Obama's Efforts may start Civil War?

With almost 90 guns per 100 people, I more or less see why this might be even a remote possibility. I believe at least half are considered "assault weapons" according to the new AWB (assault weapons ban) Senator Dianne Feinstein is trying to push. I've also hearing that people are calling for the repeal of the Second Amendment. With a few attempts to repeal the 22nd Amendment, the 2nd Amendment can be repealed as well. 7 Years ago, I believed that the solution to end gun violence was to take away all civie guns. Now I became less idealistic and..............

I was hoping that I wouldn't say this but repealing the 2A, in paper or in practice, would at least piss off gun owners. The worst that can happen is another civil war.

Do you agree with the theory that 2A repeal =/= peace but more killing due to crime spike or civil war? If you agree and disagree, why?

Americans are naturally defiant, and that is part of the reason the US exists.

I have heard many calls for a UK style gun turn-in, much like the one they did in response to the Dunblane Massacre of 1997.

Any attempt to do anything remotely similar would end in utter disaster.

Moving seems more appealing everyday.

At least in Japan you can walk down the street with a BB gun without getting the cops called on you.

I'd take civil war even knowing that I'd likely die in it.
How's that saying go; "from my cold dead hands"?

Even if such a ban were to be enacted, criminals would find ways to smuggle "assault weapons" into the U.S., only they would no longer have to worry about a citizen with concealed carry fighting back.

I would disapprove of a weapons turn-in, but I wouldn't fight a war over it. That's not to say a lot of people would.

And look what happened!? Violent crime hits 100 year high in 2003. And some Londoners think that the London riots are more damaging due to lack of the right to near arms and overwhelmed police force.

As in VC spike, I forgot what source it was but some scholar thought that the Englishmen and women should be able to own firearms.

Switzerland is where I would try to take refuge should war break out. If I don't have much choice or get too infuriated (ie killing people who won't turn in their guns) I would fight in the war against the gun grabbers. Hell even renewing the AWB may cause at least a riot.

The Obama administration has already created a situation ripe for a civil war, and gun control could very easily set it off.

No it wasn't a turn-in the Tories put in a handgun ammunition ban plus when Labour got into power that same year in the general election they put in a handgun ban. Plus you forgotten to point out that we in the UK had a gun massacre post Dunblane, two years ago in Cumbria.

I'd doubt there would be a civil war. More likely would be a collective dooming of whatever political party and movement that would push such tyrannical legislation.

The whole point of the second ammendment was to do this. To retake power from a government consumed by it.

Whats the first thing every dictator does? Take the power away from the people. That gives the offset in power so large theres no chance of a revolution, only a coup would be able to bring back order.

I've seen YouTube vids of people burying firearms in their backyard with steel cases. So when confiscation day shows up, there is a "lifesaver" as this one guy calls it still available.
I know the answer pool is small, but I'm surprised that most people agree with the civil war theory. I thought I would be called insane for that

exactly. Mao, Hitler, Pol Pot, Stalin... They all loved their gun control, and look at what they did.

Everyone wants guns...for themselves. Not for others. Diane Feinstein has a CCW permit and carries a pistol. That is how gun legislation is passed, under that basis. We don't want other people with guns, you know? During the LA Riots, people were mad as hell they couldn't get pistols due to the waiting periods and whatnot. But they were perfectly happy passing such bills, figuring it'd only apply to "other people."

Right on target. Getting a CCW In San Francisco is impossible if you're not top cop or know one. They only hand out 10 permits a year! The sheriff had there handguns.

So Feinstein packs a pistol.

Where did you pick up that information?

That little tidbit could be gold in the right hands.
