I haven't read the whole thread so my apologies if this has been mentioned already. 'Nothing Came Out' by the Moldy Peaches is a great aspie song:

Just because I don't say anything,
Doesn't mean I don't like you.
I open my mouth and I try and i try
But no words came out.

Without 40 oz. of social skills
I'm just an ass in the crack of humanity.
I'm just a huge manitee.
A huge manitee.

And besides you're probably holding hands
With some skinny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wana do is ride bikes with you
And stay up late and watch cartoons.

Duck Tales, shirt tails, Talespin, Sailor Moon, GI Joe, Robotech, Ron Jeremy, Schmoo.

I wanna watch cartons with you.
Josie and the Pussycats and Scooby Do,
I want you to watch cartoons with me.
He-man, Voltron and Hong-Kong-Fui

I tried to ask you to your face
But no words came out.
I put on my hood and walked away,
That doosn't mean I don't like you.

And besides your probably holding hands
With some skinny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wanna do is ride bikes with you,
And stay up late and maybe spoon.

Just becase I dont say anything
Doesn't mean I dont like you.
No...
I opened my mouth and i tried and i tried.

And besides you're probably holding hands
With some skiny, pretty girl that likes to
Talk about bands and
All I wanna do is ride bikes with you.
And stay up late and watch cartoons.

I'm just your average Thundercats ho.

Eyedea - Wierd Side (verse 1)

Why they always looking at me, like there's something on my face man
No matter where I go, I'm always feeling out of place
And I know I'm not your regular I got a different taste
Probably 'cause most my life, spent right in my basement
I didn't watch the Super Bowl, don't drink alcohol
Don't carry I.D., don't go to the mall
I'm extra argumentative and really good at fast talk
I can't dance or sing but I can rap my ass off
Hey your voice is unique, I'll leave it at that
But no rapper you know, has the ideas I have
And it ain't like the skin color really is significant
Put you in a category of art asshole or
Idiot but I don't try to fit in
My life's like a novel of science-fiction
My mission is to get into your mind, and we can loosen it
Rewind what you were missin', everytime that you was listenin' to me
Glad I made a picture, put a rhyme upon the internet
I'll hide behind a picket fence, slice a little wickedness and I
Win at this so you better better me
I always fall in public if I got a lot of energy
Don't go to the doc, I got my own remedies
Oh and I almost forgot I got a really good memory

Ok, I think the thread title sums up what this thread is about nicely. Now, there may very well be a thread on this subject somewhere but I don't feel like digging, and besides, it is time for something new. So anyway, I invite you all to list songs you think are on or about asperger's, or something you think an Aspie can relate to. Lesser known songs by lesser known artists are also invited, in fact encouraged. This thread will help us discover songs we can relate to...Wink Feel free also to post lyrics of songs so we know why they are aspie in nature.

As this thread gets longer I will periodically update this first post to compile a more definitive list.

Athlete - Vehicles & Animals:

It's the simple things like the robots stevie g draws
and the ease with which you seem to pull those tricks
there are moments of escape for every one of us
and the beauty in the times that we create

i saw you smiling
and i need my vehicles and animals
and i will be alright
and take me back to nineteen seventy nine so i can find my open eyes

he can play all by himself for many hours
i have never seen a kid who's so content
there is nothing from the outside that can touch him
cos he's just learning how to be alone with one

i saw you smiling
and i need my vehicles and animals
and i will be alright
take me back to nineteen seventy nine so i can find my open eyes

and i need my vehicles and animals
and i will be alright
take me back to nineteen seventy nine so i can find my open eyes

lying down on my bed
i just got another kick to the head
oh yeah you're a part of me
yet another branch on the family tree

salt on my fingers salt in my cuts
salt on my face and salt in my guts
it's been a battle but we've come through ok
stop what you're doing and play

cos we've got our vehicles and animals so
we're gonna be alright
there's no need for us to go back in time
because we've found our open eyes

we've got our vehicles and animals
so we're gonna be alright
there's no need for us to go back in time
because we've found our open eyes

"What Hurts the Most" by Rascal Flatts - just the chorus. (I don't like country music myself, but I hear it a lot at work.)

What hurts the most
Is being so close
And having so much to say
And watching you walk away
And never knowing
What could have been
And not seeing that loving you
Is what I was trying to do

That part of the song haunts me - with regards to important people in my life in general and especially my husband. I enjoy being around people but I don't talk much, don't interact with people much - it's like living trapped as a spectator behind a glass wall, and I know that definitely gives the wrong impression to the people around me. They think I'm ignoring them, they think I'm not interested in them, that I don't care about them/love them... That's certainly not the case, it's just that I don't show my interest/love in the ways they might expect. I'm sure other people around here can relate... (Sorry for the commentary if this thread is supposed to be songs only - maybe I should have started a new thread.)
