March 23 is Roger Bannister's birthday. He is 78 years of age. Roger Bannister was the first man to break the four minute mile. He also became a physician, specializing in neurology. He later became Master of Pembroke College and led the charge against performance enhancing drugs in sports. He also stands out as a man who accomplished great things despite the odds against him. For this reason, he is an inspiration to me.

Why are you so obsessed with him anyway?

Was he a singer or an actor?

It is interesting that you should ask if was a singer or actor. Roger Bannister did, in fact, do some acting as a student at Oxford and celebrated his sub four-minute mile victory at a club where he did do some singing. He was noted, however, in his post athletic life, as a neurologist.

As for obsession, I'd like to think I have a strong interest instead. An obsession, to me, implies that I would stalk someone or hurt them. A lot of so called "fans" have murdered the object of their obsession. I wish Roger Bannister a long and healthy life.

At one point, I thought he had discovered one of the original 13 colonies.
