Yes, I can see why you would want to wish away that version of God. It is more for men who feel they cannot find the right choices inside themselves they have no faith in their own innate ability to do good so they have to produce this entity that will nanny them. It is a mental construct of the stern father who is always there watching so you never mess up and if you do, his fist of doom smashes you to pieces. I do not subscribe to this belief because I am quite capable of discerning what is good and what is evil and how I can make bad decisions that can mess up my life. I do not need this construct I just think for myself instead.

I do, however, enjoy the mystical God mental construct. This is the one who comforts the psyche and eases distress. It's more like God-as-counselor. This God is more like the one Jesus had in mind, loving, forgiving father, helpful, bringer of peace. I am not saying I fully believe such a being exists but I do like the feeling of support and of not being alone so I rely on this when I am worried or stressed. This God is not concerned with human sexuality.
