Just to a google image search for pareidolia. People will believe anything, In Coogee, Sydney there was a peculiarly shaped fence and post which at the right time of day threw an optical illusion that some decided was an apparition of Mary.

When I drive into town, there is always a hitch-hiker at the side of the road at a particular spot, near a field, holding his arm out beckoning me to stop from 100 yards away. As I get closer I see it is a fence post with another piece of wood sticking out like an arm. The whole thing is covered in ivy giving it a head and rounding off its body. It always gets my attention driving past and bemuses me how human the shape looks looks from the distance. I might take a photo of it one day.

A nun on a pogo stick? A professional pope impersonator?

Shows where the bible thumpers are the thickest, and where they are more sparse.

/\
I was hoping for a bible-thumper map of the same format as AP's obesity and spanking maps.
Helps to be consistent with maps.

The overweight thing probably not since overindulgence, I believe, is mentioned somewhere in the Bible as a sin. I remember there being a sermon on that in church when I was a kid and people were talking about it afterwards.
Spanking probably so because of the "spare the rod and spoil the child" thingy.
What about Baptists eating on the ground? I've eaten with Baptist but it was always at a table with no mention about eating on the ground.

In this state when they have big tent revivals that last awhile, people would spread blankets and have picnics,it became known as "dinner on the ground."The fire ants have stopped that.Or you make a bed of blankets on the floor for a house guest,it's called a "Baptist pallet",they all used to sleep that way at the old time revivals.
When I was a teen I wore a black Led Zepplin t-shirt to a revival, big mistake. Then if you told them you had been sprinkled(I was raised Episcopilian)they would tell you you would burn unless you got immersed, then they would try and schedule it.They don't do that up here.

That's what I've heard called a "dipped" Baptist: A Baptist that's been immersed in the river for baptism.

I wore my BATMAN shirt last night to a gospel singing...seriously i'm not joking.. AS part of my
husbandly duties..to accompany my wife and her friend..to these events....

And no one messed with me...

(for some reason) ..:)

oh..and here's the evidence....

https://www.flickr.com/photos/katiemiaf ... 109421965/

https://www.flickr.com/photos/katiemiaf ... 112083894/

If there is one thing..i've learned..about communicating..

here...

IT IS..

don't leave home without the TOOLS FOR evidence..IT REALLY HAPPENED.

BUT SERiously.. most everything that was said in this thing i went to last night..

reeks of basic human truths...

IF only they CAN get IT ..that they cannot constrain GOD with the constraints...of HUMAN Language..COLLECTIVE intelligence..through complex CULTURAL..CONSTRUCTS..like religions..churches..and such as that..

TO..

OWN the REAL POWER OF FORCE OF GOD..

OR any silly willy little ant of a human being idea...

About acting as Super GOD..or suggesting..that JESUS is SUPER GOD..OR something..

like that...

At the time I wore my shirt to a revival in Little Rock they thought that if you played Stairway to Heaven backwards it was some sort of Satanic Message.

Oh yeah..i dealt with that crap too..

My local area once actually held the title of having the most churches per square mile of any town in the US..per Guiness Book of World records..

unofficial of course..per how that Guiness Book thing collects information...

But about 90% of the churches..some in buildings as small as homes...

are GOOD 'OLE Southern Baptist..hell..fire and brimstone ..folks...

Well .. my birthday is 6660..and all i had to do..

At the local grocery store..is present..my ID..to buy some beer...and the cashier..would get the fear of..'SOMETHING'..IN THEIR eyes...

There is no question in my mind..that if this had been a more 'backwards' time than it already is for basic human animal common sense..

I would have been crucified..stoned..or oh my 'GOD' no telling what..

For simply being born on a day with three sixes..if ya use..the last two digits..of the year..only....

with the day and month..digits...

And on top of that ..the attending physician induced labor two weeks early..so he could go on vacation...

"Dam devil worshipper doctor" (sarcasm implied)

OH but what i really wanted to say..IS

Led Zeppelin is one of my all time favorite bands...

I still wear Led Zeppelin shirts..around the town that is much bigger..and diluted a little..with repressed ideology...

But still i can sense..that SOME folks..

are A 'LITTLE' worried...

that OH MY GOD HE'S GOING TO HELL..THAT DAMNED LED ZEPPELIN..WORSHIPPER...:)

OH and HERE IS my favorite song by Led Zeppelin..just had to share..

and currently i have a special interest..that Jesus may have been more of a Buddhist Monk than any other type of religious figure..in the day he actually existed..

And an intriguing theory here..too.. by the way..presented by the BBC and one of the top religious scholars..that the real historical Jesus might have survived crucifixion .. and moved on to Kashmir.. living the rest of his days there....

And this theory is not new...

There is no doubt in my mind that Led Zeppelin may have been aware of it at the time the song Kashmir came out...

And used the medium of the song as a little jab of truth..against..the repressed folks that were calling them devil worshippers..and all of that..

It's only a mental illness when you hear God talking in your head and he tells you to kill people.
