Woof I have the opposite tic to this. I will tend to bark. I have to be careful to try to suppress this while I'm around dogs though, as they might mistake it for coprolalia, in their own canine language. Seriously, I've gotten into arguments with dogs, and not even known what we were fighting over.

I do. And in my case it is definitely a tic (well, I like to meow just for fun too but it is not the case here). As soon as a memore of something stupid I did in past come to my mind I instantly meow to get rid of the memory. I have very little control over this. I can only stop it when I am between people - I alternate the meow with straining all my muscles and closing my eyes for a sec to calm myself then. People usually can't see it so it is more appropriate than the loud meow.

I had no idea either of us were on the spectrum at the time but looking back on it, my girlfriend was almost definitely an Aspie.

She used to say "mew" some times, kind of like a cat's meow especially when she was having one of those sigh that's kind of depressing moments, but addressing it in a playful way.

She also used to stand completely pigeon toed, rise up on the balls of her feet, give a huge grin, flap her arms and say "flap flap" when she was happy.

My cats b***h and moan with pathetic long meows all the time so I imitate them and meow back.
