..that in the grand scheme of things, we will never know how big or how small we really are.

On another thread (not the original post) Auntblabby asked "do big and small both go on forever?" Or something like that. That is: do things get infinitely smaller, and do they get infinitely bigger?

I suspect small has a limit. Subatomic particles like quarks are probably near the limit to how small a "thing" can be. Beyond that you're talking about 'fields' of influence and not about things (ie particles).

But the limit of big has yet to be glimpsed ( if it exists at all).

They now talk about Universe in the plural. That there maybe many other "universes" adjacent to our own packed away in some big egg carton. Maybe there are groups of universes. And groups of groups of universes.

Things get weird when you hit the planck level but I can't see any reason why it could not be infinite in scope. This question has always intrigued me.

I can tell big from small by gathering a five gallon bucket of sand, removing one grain and putting in a 3 gallon jug by itself and then me standing in between them.

I find it hard to explain what's in my head, so here goes.

At one place where lived, it was pretty run down and I housed a family of cockroaches.

Anyway, when I went to work at the night I would leave a piece of fruit out on the kitchen floor.

When I came home in the morning the fruit would be fully eaten and the cockroaches would scatter as soon as I put the light on.

I know it might seem like an odd thing to do, but ever since then I have seen the human race as being like cockroaches on a piece of fruit.

This is what got me thinking.

What if, in the grand scheme of things we are the same size as cockroaches and the world is just a tiny piece of fruit?

I think that other universes might be gigantic in comparison to us.

I don't know if any of that makes sense in a round about way.
