In 2004, at an elementary school in Sasebo, Japan, an 11-year old elementary 6th grade girl slit the throat of a peer. It is not mentioned on the English version of Wikipedia, but the Japanese version, referencing a book by Atsuko Kusanagi, a journalist, says that the killer was diagnosed with Asperger syndrome after the homicide.

The slitting of the throat of the other student, or the AS diagnosis do not surprise me as much as the fact this little girl had not already slit her own throat given what a girl her age has to look forward to growing up in Japan.

The fact the killer was diagnosed with AS is irrelevant. You may as well say he was diagnosed with diabetes, psoriasis or migraines. It has no bearing on his crime.

And in related news, it turns out Josef Stalin was neurotypical.

Scientifically, that has no more meaning than: young woman drank milk as a child. So far (I'm in my late 60s) being aspie hasn't caused me to kill anyone. Would have to say there have been some people I would have quite liked to eliminate though!

just because a lot of aspies dont have forensic behaviors where their aspergers has input in,doesnt mean the same for everyone with aspergers, family life, their community life ,behavioral management throughout life, and mental illness can also impair a persons thinking and actions obviously but that doesnt stop other things being possible factors.

the last residential autism service had lived in,they also had a supported living service where a severe aspie lived,he had forensic behaviors due to the social impairment and obsessiveness,he basicaly stalked women and has touched them when they didnt want touching;he got on a bus once and sat next to a woman he fancied and stared at her, when she tried to get off he followed her home to ask her out and she called the police which resulted in him getting arrested, hes been in police custody loads of times over it,he has also molested female support staff so he wasnt allowed women to work with him.

given the person in the OP is a kid,he coud have had issues with understanding the concept of cause and effect, those of us with classic autism certainly experience this as adults so can understand a aspie child being possibly affected,he coud have acted impulsively, these arent excuses but am just thinking 'out loud' tbh.

the way i would look at it is that if a person is already proned toward violence either because of genetics or envirement.aspergers or other ASD's could put the proverbial match in the powder keg.no ASD makes someone violent at all and a person already pre disposed to violence could also be provoked by other psychologocal factors as well like deppresion or even adhd

Agreed, but it's become common practice of news officials and such to include that information, whether true or not. Just one more thing that has society at our throats for no real reason at all. It's sickening.

A diagnosed sociopath, or a psychopath killing an innocent victim, makes a pritty dull, obvious story. However, a dwarf ballerina would be international news.
