You are not alone in feeling that way sometimes. I screw up even when I'm trying my best.

I used to think that too but realized that truth is not always what it appears. Remember the "grass always LOOKS greener on the other side". Smarter people are not always happier or at peace. Smart people may not always have an easy time socializing, making money, feel happy ect. NT's often have their own struggles, some might have other physical problems, family problems, abuse, bad fortunes ect. Sometimes being uncapable of doing certain things sets you free of having to even worry about the responsibility of doing that. I'm sure have you some kind of talents, abillity, or interests your good at fallow through on those. That and living a simple life is really every man and women's dream. I feel like sometimes people who are supposedly disabled have the upper-hand in being able to reach that point of less worry.

OCD is hard to deal with, but you have to fight the compulsions. The more you refuse to perform the compulsions the easier it will get to ignore them. I know this from experience.
You seem like a good guy; work with your strengths and don't beat yourself up. Nobody's perfect and everybody has their own struggles. Change what you can, and make the best of what you can't. That's all anybody can do.

I think people can learn over their whole life. Is anything really stopping you from becoming smarter, by working on it, slowly but surely ?

Also, try to enjoy things that are part of being alive, like the beauty of nature. The blind person wishes they could see; the deaf wish they could hear. I highly recommend enjoy not being old.

Bill, I think you will grow into smartness, you just have to discover it within yourself already existing, germinating and waiting to bloom.

So here I am again sharing my #1 search result, but sometimes #1 search results are #1 for a good reason? :) Here it is:

http://www.psychologytoday.com/blog/lea ... -your-side

I don't think I am alone in saying this, but it bothers me that you feel this way, because I so often feel the same. I wanted to also share that feeling dumb is not reserved for people who have a low - avg IQ! It's human! Mine is quite average but because I lack confidence, and because I haven't finished setting my lifestyle up in a way that engenders confidence, I tend to feel stupid a lot. For one thing, I work with people who it's very easy to feel stupid around, or left in the dust!

I guess the answer is building up confidence. I think that enjoying your youth and athletic abilities is a great start. I will admit that with age comes maturity - at least if your not a complete dolt. So, you will get smarter, especially if you apply yourself. :D
