Why can't the entire world work like this?

There is just no way of making the disposal of waste a job that people clamor for but civilization collapses without it. Sewer pipe raising doesn't have the homespun charm of barn raising but the Amish must have had to do it too. Or outhouse raising. These things have to be done but they aren't something many (or enough) people like doing.
