...well, you know who. Some local governments are trying to criminalize home gardens already, but now imposing a surcharge on people for selling power from solar units back to utility companies. Good gravy, what is wrong with these people?

Irony is that anyone going "off grid" or trying to be "green" spends way more on the tech to get there and needs YEARS to get to a point where it is making money for them.

ZNG: People who use solar energy to heat and electrify their homes are not doing it to "make" money, they're doing it to SAVE MONEY. But hey, a penny saved is a penny earned right? Personal energy indepdenence is not good for utility companies and businesses have lobbying power to get laws passed that favor their financial interests.

You would think the energy companies would be appreciative of people using solar power and returning excess to the utility companies instead of attacking the solar users as if they are competitors. Would they rather the solar users created a way to share the excess with neighbors who would then not be so dependent on the utility companies Is this even possible without going into bankruptcy, to find an economical way to share excess solar energy with neighbors?

OK is run by sociopaths, not to put too fine a point on it. they wanna make their citizens fork money over to the existing power companies whether or not they consume any of their product. it is corporate thievery.

Sorry but you are clueless. There are about a million different ways to do it and they dont all cost the same amount. But you know what it doesnt matter, it only takes a few days without power for all this s**t in your freezer to melt. I guess if you lost power for a prolonged period of time and everything you had started to turn to s**t at least you be glad you didnt spend any money on redundant or supplemental power!
