I love it. And it's happening more and more. There are so many parents who would love to do this for their kids but lack the financial resources. Helping to fund businesses like this would be a great way for the government [and private groups] to give support to the disabled. And, in the long run, since money is the everything in the U.S., helping to start a business would be a lot less expensive than paying for ssi, public housing, and food stamps.

I hate to be a Debbie Downer, but working in a car wash for $11 an hour is not much of "a life". The owner is just using ASD people for cheap labor, to make his business profitable.

I disagree. He's hiring young adults, not people trying to support a wife and two kids. For an 18-year-old autistic kid, I'd say $11 is pretty good, especially considering it's an autistic friendly environment. Sure as hell beats minimum wage at McDonald's.

The reporter was a little condescending but I thought the best representation of us in the story was when owner talked about how unlike the allistic workers the autistic workers were not constantly on their cell phones.

This is great! The owner of the car wash seems very dedicated to the worker's success; as a result, the workers are dedicated to their job, and seem to enjoy doing it. Why can't every job be like this for everyone?
