Hi all - I've been browsing these forums, and there is a huge amount of highly articulate comment.

The bottom line is that the same questions re-appear time and time again, but there are no useful answers.

We are all stumbling through life with varying levels of 'success'.

Now that I am a grandparent, I am beginning to understand and enjoy the business of human relationships in a way that I never did before.

In many ways this makes me happy, but it is also a continual and very often painful reminder of all the stuff which was missing from my own earlier years.

I know what you mean. I try to answer people's questions sometimes, but a lot of the time I just don't have any good advice for them. I recently told a neurotypical social worker about WP and he seemed interested in giving advice to some of the people here. As for the "grandparent" part, I don't have the experience required to be able to relate. Namaste :)

You could always try asking a question Mr. Grumpy. You may get a kick out of it anyways.

I think we all stumble through life, Apergians and NT's. It's good that you are finding rewards in social behaviour now you are a grandparent, even though it is tinged with bitter sweet. If you had memetories of a past full of realised opportunities, they would still only be memories, and all we really have is the present moment.

Welcome Mr. Grumpy!

Oh dear. I do so hope he restrains himself from unsolicited advice-giving.
