am up for educating them, but bet will get the same treatment had got off their supporters on their very first forum, they denied the autism of mine because aparently those of us diagnosed with severe autism [and still such as adults] aint severely autistic unless we are like their young child, AKA unable to use a keyboard or the internet to communicate.
they are dangerously delusional and ignorant.
i know what you are feeling, in israhell there are a hate group similar to autism $peaks called ALUT which says every autistic who able to use a keyboard is a fraud. it is just horrible how NTs can be dangerously stupid and ignorant enough to stop an autistic from getting the right treatmant.

The worst thing is that both Autism Speaks and ALUT now have consultative status with the United Nations and are spreading this message to other countries worldwide.

Reading that just ruined my day (fortunately there are only 15 minutes left in the day)

By "controversy" they mean "actual autistic people are sick of their crap".

I can't wait until we finally manage to make ASAN or something similar the go-to autism foundation instead of A$.
thats disturbing, that such hate groups can even speak in the UN. it is as if the KKK was in the un disscussing about black people rights in africa. i is just disgusting that corporations like autism $peaks have a say in the UN.
That reminds me, while I was in Africa, there was this guy who worked for the African Union who was a member of the KKK. Someone in my middle school class, whose father was a member of the AU, went on a large rant about it between classes.

But on the question of how to deal with these hate groups.
First, respond promptly to each piece of propaganda they shovel out. Give it a low rating, review it, and spread word to other neurodiverse people to help out with that. The lower the initial rating, the less initial impact and that should curb viewership significantly over the course of the propaganda piece's lifetime.
Second, actively protest, i.e. start petitions and sign them left and right.
Thirdly, and most importantly, directly impact NT culture.

Like really. I would be 100% a different person if I was "cured" of autism. My entire personality would change. I'm just not sure if I could handle it, but I'm sure many people, including myself, would really like an idealistic solution for repairing the noted "gray-matter" in our brains that generates autism-like traits.

It would require surgery below the cerebral cortex. There is no cure for autism without literal brain surgery.

Actually, if I read this correctly, advancements in the search for a cure are showing that ASD's may be curable through the use of drugs which are currently being tested on mice exhibiting autism-like symptoms;

Have you ever read "A Clockwork Orange" which was about the ethical dilemma about whether or not curing a psychopath would be right or wrong. I think many of those dilemma's exist, and even moreso, in the case of ASD.

It's hilarious they think that. You've heard, I'm sure, that depression is caused by an unbalance in neurotransmitters. However, research shows that the chemical unbalance only exists in less than 25% of patients and that the drugs are only effective in less than 10% of patients. Despite that, doctors pass them out like candy without doing the chemical tests required to see if the unbalance exist. If they don't have the unbalance in the first place, the drugs will do nothing more than likely cause an unbalance and the patient is subject to the chance of the many side affects. It is a nice way to make profit.

Sure, maybe if they can get the drug through human drug trials without causing large amounts of brain damage, then it could hit the market, but it would still only cure a small minority of ASDs. The shock of the change could also cause massive psychological damage for many of those it works on. Can the mind handle being changed so radically after it has adapted to itself?
On top of that, it would likely cause the ASDs to be forced to live with the drug for the rest of their life.
