Maybe I'm being overly optimistic, but I think this time (unlike the twins locked in the basement, the kid locked in the cage, and the murder of Alex Spourdalakis) the media and "warrior-parents" won't make excuses for this heinous act.

Andrew Wheeler isn't the only Andrew W. to abuse autistic people. Andrew Wakefield has caused the abuse of countless autistic people in the name of medicine. He might not have done it directly, but he deliberately deceiving parents into using dangerous chemicals on their children (chelation agents, bleach--oral or with enema, etc). That's not even mentioning all the deaths he caused. Too bad Wakefield will never see the inside of a prison cell

And, of course, the conversation is shut down with the "one bad apple" routine.
