Riding my bike home from the market today, I had a very near-miss with a pit bull! It was very determined to take me down, but I managed to push past him with all of my might. That set of teeth coming at me, and him lunging and growling and snorting sent me rocketing...I don't know how far...before the dog was no longer near me, I looked back and I was confused...my bike went over the curb and up onto the next one...and I landed on my left side with my bike on top of me. I am still as confused almost 12 hours later now with no intention of being able to fall asleep...nine panic attacks have occurred since the attempted dog attack, and I feel surreal! I DID contact animal control...not because I was so worried about ME, but because I thought "what could happen to the next person who might be a child." Why am I still reeling from this? And my ankle is bleeding, and has non-stop since the incident! CRAZY!

Did you hit your head? You might need to go to the ER. And animal bites can be dangerous as well.

It sounds very scary and I would still be reeling, even without any injuries.

Please take care of yourself!! I hope you feel better.

Thank You! Did not hit my head, but confused probably from the panic! But still bleeding from my ankle...to tell you the truth, maybe the dog DID get me, and I'm somehow in a fog!

Glad your head is ok. I would be very shaken as well. I hope your leg is ok. You should probably see a doctor for a bite that's still bleeding like this. Meanwhile, try to relax!!

Its given you a fright is all. Best follow Waterfalls suggestion and see a Doctor for that ankle tell them about the fall, and ask for something for your nerves.

I have had several run ins with dogs, including accidentally waking a pack of feral dogs. And it can be nerve wracking. There is something to that saying 'Let sleeping dogs lie'

But I love dogs nevertheless and its the irresponsible owners that cause these problems. Good call reporting it.
