hi. welcome. what sort of scientist are you? i was a bio major in college. what are your hobbies?
I'm a physicist, I work with radiation detectors for astrophysicists. I used to work with two-dimensional materials but this route has better job security (people will always worry about nuclear threats and the means to detect them) and I can also help out my fellow scientists so it's a big win/win.
My biggest hobby is role-playing games. I love to design them and make rules that are easy to play while being as realistic as possible (not an easy balance!). I've loved devising probability models that accurately mimic real life, and in every life situation/location I'm thinking about how it could be described/modeled in an RPG. On this vein I'm also a huge fan of computer games (especially apocalypse/horror themes and FPSers).
I used to be a journalist, and I love to write too, though I don't have time anymore. I did write a novel, but I've never had any interest in sharing it (wrote it for myself to enjoy, and I care not a whit whether anyone else would like it - wow that's selfish but it's true).
Bio major? Do you get to work in your field? I'm a big fan of biologists, if I wasn't a physicist that would be my second choice.
Cheers!
