Hello, I'm Adam. I'm a 19 year old Junior in college studying chemistry. I was diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder 8 months ago. I have poor social skills, difficulty concentrating in the presence of loud noises, and trouble sleeping. Strangely enough, I also have a pretty good sense of humor, which is apparently atypical for people with this condition.
My late diagnosis has affected how I perceive myself and how I interact with others. I'm "in the closet", so to speak, having only told my mother about my diagnosis. I still try to pass as normal, awkwardly attempting to learn and mimic the habits of human beings so that I can blend into their society, but it never works.
