Admittedly I drink Pabst, primarily for that one line uttered by Dennis Hopper in David Lynch's Blue Velvet: "Heineken? F*ck that sh*t! Pabst Blue Ribbon!" To provide a little history, Pabst would have gone bankrupt had that one line not turned that beer into the drink of the art house movie crowd. Genuine artistic bohemians had adopted Pabst years ago, and that's why hipster posers drink it today, but they probably couldn't tell you why like I just did.

I've seen Blue Velvet a couple times and never even noticed that line; too distracted by general Lynchian creepiness. Now that you explain it, it does make sense. Had I noticed I would probably have doubled down on Heineken (which I drank anyway) to put some psychological space between myself and Hopper's terrifying character.

I like to think of Pabst more of a David Lynch beer, than the beer of Dennis Hopper/Frank Booth.

PBR is nasty beer

I've never seen that movie,I'll have to check it out.My first boyfriend that I lived with loved Pabst,he had this awful fridge that never got the beer cold enough. At the time he was the only person our age that drank it,we all made fun of him about it.

One of David Lynch's more coherent movies, as well as one of my favorite.
