I'd like to see that... someone waiting to get home in order to "drive" their girlfriend.

shadexiii: I was trying to make a point... I think the whole idea of banning PDAs is as ridiculous as banning SUVs. Most of the same arguments can be made for either side.

I said in the Last Person thread though, this wasn't meant to be serious. I didn't really mean we should actually campaign for PDA to be legally banned or anything. I was just highlighting how much it irritates me. I say I think things should be banned all the time, because, really, I would like them to, but I would never actually attempt to get that to happen.
Also, there are environmental reasons for banning SUVs so it's not a very accurate comparison to make.

And I'm trying to make a point as well. Even SUVs can be driven in a way that doesn't offend or harm others. It is an object, not an action. It also serves a purpose, as Soph said. You have offered several of these "similar" situations, and even the one that waas somewhat close, the smoking, I addressed in the same way that people would like this issue addressed. One can be courteous and aware that they are in a public area, or they can tell the rest of the world to f**k off, get over it, or move. The latter is simply unreasonable.

A couple other random points...

No more PDOs (Public Displays of Obesity). This has gone on long enough. If you want to be overweight, do it at home. I shouldn't have to see you in a bikini when I go to a beach or pool.

No more eating bananas in public. Especially by attractive women... it makes men's pants fit differently. On a related note, no more low-cut blouses or short skirts/hot pants.

Go ahead, shadexiii. Pick it apart. You know you wanna. Very Happy

1. Obese people are obese all the time. They don't suddenly decide to be obese because they can't control their obesity until they get home.
2. Beach/pool is different to public transport/ shopping centre. You expect to see ugly fat people with few clothes on at the beach. Likewise, I wouldn't complain about going to a party or a club and seeing people kissing, because you'd expect it. I shouldn't have to see it everywhere though.

Why bother? All you can do is come up with ridiculous situations that bear little or no similarity. I'm not picking those apart, as you can't seem to address points I've already made. If you can't do that, you aren't really saying....anything of value at all.

If you kiss in public, you're Al Qaida. (I'm being sarcastic)

Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes

Actually, my opinion is simple expression like that should not be forbidden.

What next, gay couples can't kiss?

That's different though, we're not saying some people are allowed to kiss, others aren't.

My point was if no one can kiss in public this would include homosexuals as well.

It would also include straight people and every other sexuality. I don't understand what gay couples have to do with this. Gay couples kissing or straight couples kissing, it would make no difference.

It would to me.
I got nothing against gay people.
But seeing 2 men kiss is revolting.
2 Women on the other hand Cool
