Because we think the Lexapro might be causing constipation that has lasted for days and has not let up in the face of increased fiber, increased water intake, increased exercise, a stool softener, and a laxative, I am being switched to Prozac. I will go with my doctor on this one, but I wonder how the Prozac will affect me. He's going to start me on 20 mg/day.

In October 2012, when I was having rage and panic attacks the Prozac seemed to increase their edge. Nevertheless, my current psychiatrist says the benzodiazepine I'm on should counter that.

When my dose of Prozac went up to 60 mg/day on June 1, 1998, my first delusions formed and crystallized by by the middle of that month, so I wonder if taking a dose like that again may expose a psychotic vulnerability. Nevertheless, I am sticking with my doctor's orders, have asked my parents to keep a lookout for odd behavior, and will be looking out for myself, too. He doesn't think I will develop psychosis again.

They still make Prozac? 8O I still remember all the hype back in the 90's, even on The Simpson's Lunch lady Doris/The School Nurse tried to give Bart chewable Prozac for kids shaped like Manic-depressive Mouse and The Bluebird of Unhappiness. I was put on Prozac beck then, and it was horrible, I felt like death, couldn't eat, couldn't sleep, couldn't function at all. I had to go to the ER or Outpatients as we call it and be taken off. That was when I was still living in a home and wasn't diagnosed with Asperger's and in the summer they just kept changing my meds and I felt awful, like I was constantly having an panic attack, and went to the hospital several times. I lost around 30 lbs in only a few weeks because I couldn't swallow food and couldn't concentrate on anything or stay still for a second. They would tell me the side effects would get better but they never did. Prozac is the devil's drug.

was on prozac 120 mg per day for years. had no side effects except sexual dysfunction. if i were psychotic on a certain dose of prozac in the past, i'd be very wary of getting to that again.

Amen to that! I had a GP put me on that garbage when I was still working at the Pentagon. How I managed to hold my temper and not lop off the head of a 3 star general is beyond me.

We'll see how things go when I take my first dose tomorrow. My doctor says the Klonopin should help take the edge off of the Prozac.

I've just taken my first dose. Let's hope I don't go wild; let's hope my doctor's right about the Klonopin chilling me out.

Prozac made me worse as I suffered with suicidal thoughts and ended up in a secure unit for a month.

I was on Prozac previously and it worked well.

I tried it more recently but it gave me chest pains. So I switched (as directed by a psychiatrist) to zoloft. 50mg zoloft works well for me with minor side effects. 100mg had worse side effects and also made me edgy, less focused, and more prone to compulsive behavior.

For me, Luvox was the nightmare drug when I tried it. It made me act and talk crazy plus suicidal. For each person, different drugs behave differently. I'm hoping 50mg zoloft is my magic formula.

Note: all changes to my medicine were made by a psychiatrist. I did not make these changes by myself. Don't make changes by yourself.

Note: In my case medicine is being used to treat depression, obsessions, compulsions, and social anxiety.

Prozac put me in a bad place, but not as bad as Abilify.

And OH MY GOD IT'S DAVROS! The Daleks have taken over WrongPlanet!

No Daleks. Just Davros. There was a time when Davros had not yet invented Daleks. But Daleks will be cool.

Never did Abilify but I'm telling you Luvox made me literally go nuts. Bad news. I very nearly flunked out of school when I was on it. My grades recovered when I went on Prozac.

Ah, yes, Prozac. The med that started my descent into Hell. Why doctors try to make us into NT using medications like this is beyond me!

Well, I've been on 80 mg/day for the past few weeks. Nothing too crazy, though I'm still as obsessive as heck.

I seemed to have developed a sort of indifference while on it.

RUN! Run as fast as you can away from this drug! I went on this drug and became psychotic and had some sexual side effects. I got off this and got on Wellbutrin. It doesn't work at all and actually makes things worse, but not as bad as the Prozac. In short, get off of that drug as fast as possible.
