It depends on the denomination but remember aspergers has been described as a kind of social blindness.

If that's true than you might not be well suited to lead a congregation.

You may make an awesome activist though. :)

Hello? Somebody wanted an autistic priest? (Anglican/Episcopal)
I've been both for years! (Priest for 34 years, autistic for 59!)

That's quite an accusation. Care to back it up with anything? It seems hugely insensitive to both innocent Roman Catholics and victims of sexual abuse (and of course both at once).

are you personally offended?

Whether or not someone is personally offended has no bearing on a person's responsibility to be aware, within reason, of whether or not they are declaring baseless and insensitive statements. More pointedly: the simple fact that you have had a stereotype parroted at you doesn't entitle you to defame an entire group.

Btw, someone asked if C.S. Lewis was a minister. Yes, he was not only a noted apologist but a minister. Interestingly enough, J.R. Tolkien was also a minister, that's quite a resume between being a literature and language professor, a minister, a WWI veteran, and a famous author known to regularly correspond with C.S. Lewis. However, I doubt either of them was on the autism spectrum, I have never seen anything to indicate those symptoms.

It's a liberal protestant denomination. It's a community church, so I'm the 6th Generation to attend the church (& 4th Generation Confirmed, & 3rd Generation Baptised).

It's a very small congregation, but people I'm comfortable around, who've known my family their whole lives.

Would you have to attend seminary?
