I agree. Sometimes it's the "crude" men who get things done. Think of only the plots to kill Hitler, where there were complex explosives in earlier attempts that never worked.

Also I think it was intend so the Scotland Yard would able to follow the radioactive trail all on to the plane all the way to Russia, but then would be powerless. to do anything. They know exactly who they want to question.
It was basically meant as horrible way to die, to deter decent.
Although I would never agree with this, it is important to point out that many of the people that were targeted fell out with The Rwandan Genocide, that doesn't mean they were all good guys or less corrupt. Of course there are also reasonable opposition figures too.
Even the business guys still in Putin's favour sink their money in London real-estate, becuase they know art some point they may have to jump ship. it really is a Mafia.
Putin like these oligarchs are not self made men, they just cream Russia resources, and used nationalism as cloak.
