Chicago?

Plus the average LEO's idea of what constitutes the law changes from officer to officer to department to state
and their ideas are not necessarily the truth but they will make you try to believe otherwise. I've seen and
experienced this in small and large cities. If you haven't, good for you, but please don't try to refute me with
a lack of knowledge.

It may be the case for Chicago, this, mean there is a systemic failure much higher up. They need to be hirig th eright people, training them well and holding them to a high standard.

This is not Jolly Old England, and the history of law enforcement is nothing like yours and our police are more brutal but news stories tell me your constables are catching up fast. Revisit this thought in 10 years after you've gone through the "immigration" phase, and we can compare notes.

Best advice having to do with cops: AVOID THEM!
Most are okay as neighbors, relatives, or other acquaintances and most are actually competent in the field. However, enough of them are not competent and lack common sense, and/or are dyed in the wool bullies, and/or have a strong "them against us" mentality that they are best left avoided whenever practicable. Drive carefully, don't get into public altercations, and don't call them to your residence over silly s**t. If you get burglarized and need a police report to attach to the insurance claim that's one thing but don't call them over pettiness.

And never refer to a female officer as "sweetie".
