i read a book on psychological defenses in 9th grade, are these what you're talking about?
it was really eye opening and it;s one of the finest i've read.

i wouldn't know much of how i "defend" i go a bit of humor, fantasy, projection and repression so i kinda...jump all over the poll, i went with III.

Yup, them be the ones.

I'm in II, III and IV

The ones in II, acting out and I can be passive aggresive, are all to do with the part of me that refuses to grow up

Hmm, not believing in this rubbish and then saying you have a "myriad of coping mechanisms" is sort of a contradiction. Coping/defense mechanisms sort of same difference other word. Or is it me? :?
The rubbish option was for those who don't believe humans have psychological defense/coping mechanisms

yes, same here. i used to act out big time in the middle of class, often to other people but not to much these days...although i think my passive agressiveness is "better" in some way, had quite a bit of practice with my sister...

Type II for me lol, although I've learnt my acting out is partially not making myself understood properly or my depression which leads to my anger, frustration ect. I'm working on it though. Tiredness more than anything tends to trigger it for me but that's getting better recently since I've been allocating times to do certain chores, rather than trying to clean everything all at once and in one day.

II, III, IV.

AVOIDANCE is by far my favorite.

Possibly coz it don't allow multiple votes

I voted III myself even though I use more mechanism from IV but somehow I think the III ones are the ones that define me.
Guess you could say I have learnt to tolerate myself over the years 8O 8)

A combination of level III and IV. I'm a messed-up individual, but at least I'm a mature messed-up individual. :)

i too dabble in IV, there is some very good humor that comes out in the face of adversity. 8)

Overall, probably III. I aim at IV and I think I'm there a lot of the time, but my own need to be perfect tends to lead me into overthinking more than it should, so I'm not really comfortable voting for IV on the poll.

I would say, everything from level II to IV and sometimes even slightly level I, but more in a Schizotypal kind of way, not in a schizophrenic one.

I voted for III all in all.
I still don't really believe in the fact that you can devide and explain defence mechanisms that easily. I would say, it's way more complex than that.

I don't see what's so mature about coping via humor.
