http://www.katu.com/news/local/Salem-te ... 54092.html - ...... in front of her whole class. It should technically be "Salem (Oregon) teacher on paid leave after ripping girl's shirt off caught on video", but the stupid character limit got me. I'll only describe this incident with my first reaction, which was "@#@#**#%*#%#%!" Why do that to a girl who suffers from panic attacks, GDI?

I go to school in a nearby school district and know people who went there. Believe me, we've seen worse. The only difference is that this time people heard about it.

Some people have no business being teachers.

I would not categorize that as lifting up of the students shirt. I would say it is a case of the shirt being pulled off of the student during a physical assault by the teacher, and the teacher should be punished, and someone sued The teacher should certainly have been arrested for assault upon a minor.

The need to be screened and removed before they get access to a classroom. But how?
Perhaps covert psychometrics might be the answer?

Perhaps. But college teaching students should at least be put through the worst case scenarios to see how they react, and for them to personally evaluate if this is the profession they want to seriously dedicate their lives to.

Do you mean covertly filmed via a hidden camera being faced by an buxom young female student feigning interest? might contravene plenty of ethical standards not to mention violate their (teachers) rights.

I think as a general rule teachers should never be allowed to be one on one with a student without another teacher present.

I was thinking more about situations which would test a prospective teacher's ability to keep his or her cool.

It's hard to predict behaviour - there are so many inconsistent variables.

The test would have to be situational and contextual. The ability to not to handle stress/keep their temperament is not going to be an indication of predatory behaviour.

I talked about this situation with my mom {who works as a teacher}, and she agrees with most of you. She says that the teacher who did that to that poor girl should not only be removed from her job as a teacher, but also thrown into prison. A lawsuit against that teacher and the school district wouldn't be enough.
