If you're reading this, it will be/already is Halloween, one day out of the year where folks go out in costume and add a surrealist tinge to life. (I have no idea what I meant by that last statement, but there you go.)

With that in mind, does anyone here feel some sort of aversion (for lack of better term) towards Halloween?

Yes, while the small one I can handle, it's the bigger brats that ruin it for everyone.

It was fun when I was a kid and I was young enough to go trick or treating, but nowadays I'm not a big fan of it. Same with Christmas, loved it as a kid, but now I think it's much more trouble than it's worth.

I don't mind Christmas per se--I mind the whole Christmas Season mania which starts earlier and earlier in the year.

Not really.

I live in a very rural area. Nobody comes to my door. If I had to deal with kids, I'd probably sit outside with a bowl of candy or don't decorate/leave lights off (signal that you're not giving anything out).

I'd be nice to go to a party...give a chance to be inventive with a costume....once in a while.

I stopped doing Halloween three years ago. As much as I love candy, dressing up, and creativity, I don't do any type of participation with Halloween period.

I don't think there is anything healthy about getting scared at a set of horror movies or going to haunted houses. Besides this is a holiday where all the weirdos come out and do some really creepy things.

I did get invited to a party tonight but I don't think I will be attending even though all my friends will be there.

In Australia it isn't very celebrated.

As a kid I loved the trick or treating and the good memories when my teenage uncles would take me; it was actually very nice.

Just the 3 of us, going trick or treating all around the neighborhoods and all around the city. We'd be lucky early at night, then later into the night it would get darker, colder, lonelier, but more peaceful. We'd run into trouble, make our own paths, crack jokes, and have general fun. It was almost like an adventure. Hours later, we'd make it back to my nan's house. Sometimes earlier in the night, like 9.30. Sometimes later, 10 to midnight. Once I remember still being trick or treating at around 1am...

Now Halloween isn't very big for me. I never liked horror movies, I can't be bothered to go to any halloween parties or discos or anything (though I might start trying to go to some someday), I never liked haunted houses.

I'd prefer just buying yourself a bunch of candy for halloween, maybe invite a family or friend over, watch some horror movies or just kids movies that are supposed to be halloween-themed (like Casper), maybe play horror video games if that's what you're into, etc.

I never really been into Halloween but I have an aversion to it now because it reminds me of ging to a Halloween party with my 2nd ex girlfriend & I still love & miss her.
