Probaly a topic brought up before, but what musicians do you think have aspergers/autism? For me Christian Lorenz (rammstein) could have it. And bob dylan aswell.

First I'd like to mention that I agree that Bob Dylan may have aspergers

Here's other May be/ May have been aspies:

- Thom Yorke | lead singer/song writer in the band Radiohead
- Ian Curtis | used to be lead singer/song writer in the band Joy Division
- Kurt Cobain | used to be lead singer/song writer in Nirvana
- Robert Smith | lead singer/ song writer in the band The Cure
- Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart
- Conor Oberst | lead singer/song writer in the band Bright Eyes
- Lady gaga
- Ladyhawke
- David Bowie
- Syd Barrett | used to be vocalist/song writer in the band Pink Floyd

I know about Gary Numan, Bob Dylan, There also may be either Brian Dougans or Garry Cobain of Future Sound of London but I'm not really sure. I seen a member of fsol in an interview and he did sound like an aspie the other member was mixing (they might actually be allistic) but I'm not sure. Wasn't Syd Barrett (from Pink Floyd's early times) an aspie

It's just a wild guess, but what makes me think she might be an aspie, is her strange behavior, the things she does and the way she acts. She is awkward in many ways, but she doesn't seem to take notice of this as much herself as other people around her do.

I strongly suspect that these people are on the autistic spectrum.

I really don't think Lady Gaga is an Aspie. Sure, she's outrageous but there are plenty of people who are weird and different that don't have Asperger's.

I said a couple years ago that I strongly believe the late singer Eva Cassidy had it.

It was confirmed on Ladyhawke's last.fm page that she has Asperger's. It's speculative (at least from some of my research) that Michael Jackson, Maynard James Keenan (from the band Tool), Gary Numan, Syd Barrett (from earlier days of Pink Floyd) and Jim Morrison are / were Autistic.

In reality, there are a lot of musicians who are on the autism spectrum (Especially HA or AS) due to their keen knowledge / understanding of music. It is not a stereotype that autistic people are often times musical. This goes for all genres - rock, electronic, classical etc. They are just musical people (often times) and, therefore, possess an understanding of it - and it's not a stereotype that autistic people are obsessive and detail-oriented, which only states their musical knowledge to be somewhat obsessive.

Also, because people with AS/autism often times have excellent rote memories, I would assume that Aspies are extremely perceptive to musical patterns and whatnot, which is why their knowledge in the field is often times astounding.

Craig Nicholls from The Vines has Asperger's although he just thinks it's a label. It's good that he's doing better.

I met him. We had the most awkward conversation.

I'm not so big on the speculation. I've known a few musicians and I've sometimes wondered whether they had AS. They could really have anything or not have enough impairing symptoms to need a diagnosis.

The lead singer of The Sunnyboys has schizophrenia but I related a lot to him.
And I read Phil Ochs' bio. He had bipolar but his childhood sounded like anyone with AS. He was a top student, didn't say much to people, obsessed with movies, collected photographs of movies he watched that he took himself, and when he finally got into music he was like a prodigy.

John Linnell from They Might Be Giants describes their music as having autistic qualities and that he might be a little Asperger's-y

http://paul-pearson.blogspot.com/2011/1 ... nnell.html

"When I hear songs like ?Ana Ng,? or ?Birdhouse in Your Soul,? or ?Protagonist? ? I also felt this way for some reason about ?Metal Detector? -- I sense a real poignancy in those songs, behind all the specific detail you use. Do people ever miss the emotional aspect of your work?

JL: I don?t know! I don?t know how people take it. I can sort of think of it one way or another. There?s an emotional resonance to everything that makes it interesting. But often there?s a kind of an autistic quality that I like, where it seems to be completely stripped of emotions. It almost has some numerical fascination, a way of ordering things that?s appealing that doesn?t seem emotional or personal. Perversely, I kind of like that type of writing"

http://articles.chicagotribune.com/2013 ... flansburgh
"I'm one of those people who actually needs peace and quiet, and maybe I'm a little bit Asperger's-y, but I really can't focus continually on things the way he can.""

And their videos are very stimmy
