Mae govannen!

My name is Lothando Silverwillow! A hobbit that is ready for an adventure, or a friend! I am 15 years old and live in Sweden! I am looking for a friend that loves lotr very much! not someone that just saw the movies and "liked" them.

I LOVE Lord of the Rings! Thats like the only thing i live for. I am very VERY fascinated by Lord of the Rings history and everything that concerns lotr! I am Playing lotr games such as, lotr online, lotr conquest, lotr battle for middle earth, but also some other games such as spore, age of empires and so on. i Listen to calm music but sometimes fast ones. Of course i listen to lotr music.

I would call myself a LOTR MANIAC!! ! mwahahahaha! ah well lol. I have two budgie birds! a male called Bombadil (from lotr) and a female called Luthien (from lotr or silmarillion) I love them so much!!

I like to dress as a hobbit and talk some Quenya (lotr elf language)

So if you LOVE lotr too and just thinking about it all day long and want to discuss professor Tolkien this is the hobbit friend for you! please send a PM (private message) for more info or if you want a hobbit friend!

No in elenath hîlar nan hâd gîn!

Welcome! :D

I don't remember anything about LOTR but a white mage, a dwarf, and, maybe, an elf. So, I'm out of the list :P

Aiye!

I love Lotr too. It is a strong special interest of mine, that sometimes recedes and at other times comes back. At the moment I'm very much interested in this wonderful realm of Quendi, Khâzad and Edain. :D.
I'm sixteen years old and live in the Netherlands. At the moment i'd love to learn some Quenya and Sindarin, but I'm not sure what resources and materials to use.

oi!

i do not seem to be as big as a LOTR fan as you are, i liked the movies, but what i really like about it is the realistic created languages!
tolkien really was a genius the way he crafted languages for his worlds, i am interested in worldbuilding and created languages too, i'm working on some currently.

i read he based some of his languages on finnish. how did you learn quenya?

i used to have budgies too.

welcome to the club. 8)

I also love constructed languages: I started making some of them, but never finished any. Making up grammer rules and large vocabularies is hard!

So nice to have replies! :D 1 year ago i wanted to have a friend that LOVED lotr and not any that just liked it. Im sorry for saying that, it has changed. Im open to any who needs a hobbit friend! :) Well i changed to learn Sindarin instead, i have a book: A gateway to sindarin. and i have a good site im reading at. Nice having budgies!! What were their names and color? The kingdom of the dwarves, Khazad dum is very beautiful in the game lord of the rings online, its not just about killing orcs and such, for me its about looking at all the statues and glowing crystals. Aaaand kill orcs, but only if they attack me first, honest!!

Post me a PM and i can show you screenshots from moria and give you the link to the site. Its not only Sindarin but also a little khazad, black speech and some words in quenya. However im in USA now and cant remember the site, or will be able to show the screenshots. i will be home this saturday.

Have a great day and i will check this forum posts when ever i can!

yes yes...i've just started on my grammar for Old Ayranic. i've created a few words, i honestly clueless on how much of the lexicon to create before i started to work on grammar, how do i make compound words?

vocabulary and semantics can be a bit fun though. LOTS of freedom, but culture and time needs to be taken into consideration. an ancient warrior society is not going to have a word for "catalytic converter"!

this site is great. i love this site.

I use omniglot too, it even has everyday phrases in dead languages! :D
Could you tell me a bit more about this language of yours, 'Old Aryanic'?

old ayranic was spoken from its differentiation from proto raumin (around ‐300 in the heillese calendar), to the year 900 where it became what is known as intermediate ayranic. (have not worked on that yet)

it was spoken in what is now modern day the Republic of Bhleiven, the dry rocky expanse of land just east of the Frozen Wall surrounding the Etronian Basin. this is where heillese culture first appeared, they migrated to the archipelago starying heillese calendar year 800‐ish.

the speakers of Old Ayranic were mostly savage warriors that moved around a lot, as so their noun classes are

>things that move/useful in battle

>inamimate objects/useless in battle

>rocks.

as you can see noun class is a place to get creative.

vocabulary also reflects a languages culture and time period, so you won't see me making up lots of words for "rose" or "crowdfunding"

Do you create the vocabulary based on real languages or randomness? And the grammer? Is it agglunative, same word-order as English, etc?

i'll secretly borrow some nouns from existing languages (proto-languages maybe) if i ever run out of inspiration, but since this is for a culture that obviously has had no contact with earthly peoples i will try to make the lexicon as original as i can.
same for heillese, but since they ayranics conquered them a few hundred years ago, it will reflect on their language, with loanwords and such.

i'll probably make it agglunative and experiment with fusional endings. you can't beat spanish for succinctness!
