This post is based off of the thread "why do guys want good looking girls". I even started to post something about it within the thread due to some feelings of disenfranchisement with the opposite sex, but I find myself revisiting the the topic again, so I felt it deserved its own thread. Anyway, the question goes "Why do girls want cocky, arrogant, mean guys?" The kind that treat them like dirt, the kind that cheat on them, the kind that treat them horribly?

It never fails to amaze me as I sit there utterly shocked and surprised to hear story's from coworkers about the men that they date and arguments, fights (both vocal and physical) they endure and the blatant, blatant cheating. Yet they go back to said partner or just look for other men who act the same way. Anyway, this is another one of my moments of disenfranchisement in the opposite sex, so ladies, please tell me why. Can anyone coin in their thoughts on this? I'm starting to lose my faith in women again

I was actually thinking about something similar today. About the nice things I've done for girls, and all I get to be is the friend.

Though that is a bit of an exaggeration, but my point is the same, why is it girls say they want a sensitive, romantic etc blah blah kinda guy, and yet when there's one right under their nose they ignore him?

Women... heh...

Though I think it's fairly obvious who REALLY controls this planet... or would if they were organised about it...
Men will do almost anything for a girl, and that's sad.

I love intelligent girls, I know 3. And they're usually more intelligent than me, and I'm cool with it... But then... I'm The Excpetion to many generalisations.

EDIT: And commit? I, myself, don't want a casual relationship. I'm not in it for sex pfft to sex I say. I want a long term companion. I want to commit... When I was younger, I use to imagine a girl I liked with my last name... Now isn't that scary?

Most girls declare these kinds of claims complete nonsense, but it can be pretty hard to ignore when you're a guy who wouldn't hurt a fly, who is generally in complete working order, and who is strangely ignored by girls. I've lost count of the number of lonely guys I've known who would clearly make outstandingly devoted and kind long term partners with those they were interested in, far more so than the cocky as*holes. It's hard to see exactly why it happens, but I'd say there are a lot of women who are attracted to power in all its forms, even when it's used against them.

I shy away from guys who are the cocky, arrogant type. I'm also iffy about guys who appear to be cocky, because I have a suspicious feeling that they could be arrogant. I was teased and picked on by loud, cocky guys in High School, and that makes me suspicious about guys who are cocky and loud. I also fell for one of them in College, and now I steer away from them.

*bows down* Wow, you're the first guy I have ever heard say that they've imagined a girl with their last name. That's cool. And it's cool that you also want a long term companion.

I used to really be annoyed by this behavior and would actually try to be (or fake being) cocky and arrogant around certain women to get their attention. Now I feel that if a woman is stupid enough to be impressed by that kind of behavior they're not worth my attention anyway and deserve what they get. I'll wait until I meet a girl/woman with a certain amount of common sense and decency and then try to win her heart :)

I hate to say it, but it is kind of true. Most girls I know seem to prefer the complete and utter as*holes who are not proper men. For goodness sakes: most of the as*holes are wimpy little twats who would be ripped apart if they fought a real man in a real mosh pit- not a cruddy "rap mosh pit" but a hardcore, extreme metal one. Why do most girls go after the as*holes? It is unfair. I have always wanted a long term relationship. I do not want a fling. That is why I was heart broken after the girl I made out with at a party did not contact me- I had fallen in love with her. I do not want a pointless, purely sexual relationship as that would in a way demean the women. It would make me an as*hole. I believe in romance and chivalry. I would like to be romantic, but no one lets me be. :( :( :( :(

Guys, I have to say that I think, at least as far as many of the women here at WP are concerned, you're all preaching to the choir! Personally, I can't *stand* arrogant men (or arrogant people in general); their "holier-than-thou", "my sh1t doesn't stink" attitudes make me !@#$%^& sick. I want sweet, kind, understanding, tolerant, open-minded guys who can be my friends, first and foremost; that's what I'm looking for in a relationship. I can be a bit "cocky" myself, sometimes - but it's out of silliness and sarcasm. I enjoy playful pranksters, but most definitely NOT @ssholes! :x

The problem is, aspies are predisposed to be hard to find, especially to each other. Things would be a lot happier if we didn't live in a world of neurotypicals.

Girls want cocky, arrogant guys because whiny, clingy, indecisive, attention-seeking guys are absolutely disgusting to any sane person.
