While there are many TMBG songs I can relate to, I have to wonder why you consider Birdhouse in your Soul an Aspie song? I don't see any part of the song that relates to AS?

In that other thread I posted a song by John Linnell off his State Songs Album called New Hampshire, don't worry it has nothing to do with the state Rolling Eyes. I advise any TMBG fan to pick up the State Songs CD, its very good... and it has a band organ in some songs... you can't beat that Wink

Here I sit outside the window
Longing to be asked inside
Until someone sees
Being polite
Though scared to death
They let me in

Woman wonders who's your itchy friend
Woman says, "I thought he was with you"
Woman says, "I thought he was with you"
They slowly back away from him
At best he's very interesting
His brushes with success were just an accident
No one likes New Hampshire man

Broken-hearted old man of New Hampshire
Flower-sniffing poet of New Hampshire
Charming witty drunk
Gate-crashing parasite
Self-pitying, enbittered
Morose New Hampshire man

Woman wonders who's your itchy friend
Woman says, "I thought he was with you"
Woman says, "I thought he was with you"
They slowly back away from him
At best he's very interesting
His brushes with success were just an accident
No one likes New Hampshire man
No one likes New Hampshire man

I don't know really...it just kind of reminds me of WP...you know with the whole friendship theme and all.

Tom, you can strike it from your list if you like.

a leeeeetle obscure, perhaps, but what about Tom Lehrer's "the elements"? this song is just a list of all the elements in the periodic table, set to the tune of "modern major general" by gilbert and sullivan. just the sort of thing an aspie might like, i reckon. well, i like it, anyway... Rolling Eyes

OMG I think I've heard thast song before! I've actually performed "The Pirates of Penzance" before. Awesome show.

I joined choir half way through the year, so the major roles had already been assigned. So I got to be a pirate. I didn't exactly have a costume though, it was clothes I found around my house. I ended up looking like a gay motorcycle gang member. Good thing it was a concert performance of the show. If I had gotten a part, I would've been The Pirate King or General Stanley (probably King).

Another song for the list!

Right Said Fred - I'm Too Sexy....for all those ego-centric Aspies like myself!

great song. Smile but are you REALLY that sexy, sarcastic_name...?

shame about the chorus stuff - the pirate king is SUCH a great part. in our version, we had a gay bloke play it, with the obvious result of "pirate queen". laugh a minute, or what? Rolling Eyes

"Pirate Queen" lol...Reminds me of my outfit I wore. It was a few clothes form around the house. A friend commented saying I look like a "Gay Motorcycle Gang Member Hobo Alcoholic Pimp", or something like that. I really need to find a picture.

And...another song!

John Kander and Fred Ebb(they wrote the song and music) - Mister Cellophane
...it's from my favorite musical Chicago and is about being ignored in social settings regardless of how loud you are.

Cold - Don't Belong

My mind takes you to where you need to be
Cure for your heartbreak to take away the pain
I could describe each mistake for you
Tattoo it on my tainted heart
[Chorus]
well I won't ever tell the world
that I don't belong
Please don't ever tell the world
That I don't belong
That I don't belong
Can you still feel me or did I slip away
A sick man, a monster, broken still today
I can't explain what happens to me
Caught in the game I've always starred
I could decribe each mistake for you
Tattoo it on my tainted heart
[Chorus]
Well I won't ever change my ways
and I can't be strong
That I don't belong
and it's my own shame
I can't break your ways
[Chorus]
Well I won't ever change my ways
and I can't be strong
please don't ever tell the world
that I don't belong
that I don't belong
that I don't belong

Green Day's "Boulevard of Broken Dreams"

I'm walking down the road
The only one that I have ever known
Don't know where it goes
But it's only me and I walk alone

I walk this empty street
On the Boulevard of Broken Dreams
Where the city sleeps
And I'm the only one and I walk alone

I walk alone, I walk alone
I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone up there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

I'm walking down the line
That divides me somewhere in my mind
On the borderline
Of the edge and where I walk alone

Read between the lines
What's stuffed up and everything's alright
Check my vital signs
And know I'm still alive and I walk alone

My shadow's the only one that walks beside me
My shallow heart's the only thing that's beating
Sometimes I wish someone up there will find me
'Til then I walk alone

List updated. Keep the recommendations coming. Smile

I also took the liberty to add: Gollum's Song by Emiliana Torrini from the Two Towers soundtrack. After all, what Aspie can not relate to the character of Gollum? Wink

Quote:
Where once was light
Now darkness falls
Where once was love
Love is no more
Don't say goodbye
Don't say I didn't try

These tears we cry
Are falling rain
For all the lies you told us
The hurt, the blame
And we will weep to be so alone
We are lost
We can never go home

So in the end
I'll be what I will be
No loyal friend
Was ever there for me
Now we say goodbye
We say you didn't try

These tears you cry
Have come too late
Take back the lies
The hurt, the blame
And you will weep
When you face the end alone
You are lost
You can never go home
You are lost
You can never go home

"Ordinary Day"-Great Big Sea

I've got a smile on my face, I've got four walls around me
The sun in the sky, the water surrounds me
I'll win now but sometimes I'll lose
I've been battered, but I'll never bruise, it's not so bad

[Chorus]
And I say way-hey-hey, it's just an ordinary day
and it's all your state of mind
At the end of the day, you've still got to say,
it's all right.

See that girl on the street, what keeps her from dying
Let them say what they want, she won't stop trying
She might stumble, if they push her 'round
She might fall, but she'll never lie down

[Chorus]

It's a beautiful day, but there's always some sorrow
It's a double edged knife, but there's always tomorrow
It's up to you now if you sink or swim,
Keep the faith and your ship will come in.
It's not so bad
