My kindergarten teacher was surprised that I was the only student in the class who could read. She said that I seemed interested in other children but didn't join in; only that later in the year I did and played well with my friends and enjoyed being with them.

My first grade teacher said that sometimes I need a gentle reminder to pay attention.

My second-grade teacher said that I was much more attentive after I was moved from the back of the classroom to the front, that I had to speak up more, that I was too scared that she would yell at me if I didn't have a proper pencil and so never asked for one and did a test in very messy writing, that I was polite.

My 3rd-grade teacher called me queen of the chicken scratch, I think... this other kid in my class was king of the chicken scratch and his writing was way worse than even mine...

In grade 4 I was accused of not listening or paying attention, and they suggested I may have a hearing problem.

In grade 5 my teacher ranted and raved about my wonderful writing, said that I should be an author someday, gave me a reference for the private school I went to in grade 7 and 8.

In grade 6 my teacher said that I was a girl who actually learned from her yelling at me (she seemed to find that rare), that she was sure I could write a wonderful story but that analytical stuff was more important in grade 6.

My grade 7 science and religion teacher seemed to think that I found the teachers too mean at first. Very Happy She later said once when I did badly on a test that I wasn't up to my usual high standards, once she asked us if we studied and I said sometimes I didn't and she said I wasn't a person she would worry too much about.

My grade 9 English teacher said that I seemed perfectly normal; that he couldn't tell I had AS; that he had another student with AS and you could tell.

In grade 9 the resource teacher at my school said that I had a social problem and that I didn't understand some things... this was ignorance, as she had simply heard that I had AS and made the generalization, or read the inaccurate assessment or something. In grade 10 she later said that I was sensitive about it so she tried to focus certain meetings about kids getting picked on on how a human being was being hurt. Smile She wished that I would be more open and honest about having AS. She said that I was very courageous to keep coming to school even though I was picked on like that every day. She and this other resource guy tried to convince me to take some nerve pills by saying that every single side effect that every single person had has to be listed for legal reasons. The school shrink also noticed that I sounded very anxious when talking to him and he called my mother and told her I might need some nerve pills.

My grade 10 history teacher said I had a motivational defecit.

My grade 10 French teacher said that I had a mature attitude towards my studies.

My grade 10 world history teacher said I was an extremely hard worker, that I was way ahead of the class, that I had my radar up all the time.

My grade 11 creative writing teacher in grade 12 said I might be depressed.

My grade 12 English teacher said he was concerned about my English mark because I didn't show up a lot to his classes.

My grade 11 parenting teacher in grade 12 said I was an excellent student, then later that I lost marks because I was absent a lot and missed out on some group projects.

My grade 11 biology teacher in grade 12 said that I performed the lab stuff with limited competence.

And more. Smile

My 11th grade teacher didn't believe I could do 11th grade work. She would give me a "D" saying that I didn't apply myself, so I would put all the effort I had into my next paper and she would give me an "F" claiming I plagiarized it. Once for part of my paper I called up the county coroner and interviewed him - she told me that I hadn't and that I had obtained everything I was attributing to him from somewhere on the internet. Being as I could never get higher than a D in her class, I stopped doing the work (after all my schedule was very academic oriented and why should I wasted a couple hours every night on work that I would never be allowed to get a decent grade on.). Its a shame she retired because I wanted to rub it in her face that I was college valedictorian and my college english and Lit professor stopped me three years later to tell me he was still using my papers as samples for his classes.

She wouldn't have cared. I think I have only had a few teachers that might have. Just be happy she didn't hurt your attitude, etc...

You should have taped the call. 8-(

BTW Some of my teachers said I was smart, articulate, well behaved, reserved, polite, diligent, etc.... Others said lazy, aloof, not a team player.

In kindergarten, I was misdiagnosed as being hyperactive.

In first and second grade, my teachers said I was smart. I was reading far above grade level and won prizes for being the best speller in my class. I still have a Siamese cat book I won for being the best speller in second grade.

In third grade, my teacher said I was smart.

My fourth grade teacher was an idiot. He wondered how I knew so much. I told him I was reading medical books in third grade. He didn't believe me.

In fifth grade, I was considered smart, but got poor grades in conduct.

In sixth grade, I got an almost straight-A average in academic subjects.

Junior high-Good in academics, poor in physical education.

High school-In my senior year, I won an award for excellence in the field of English.

5th Grade teacher. "Smart but doesn't care to apply himself and is disruptive to the class."

Geology teacher in highschool. "You! James! Why do you have to be such a negative asshole!? GET OUT!!" (after I blurted out a hellacious insult to him about a topic he was lecturing) - I laughed at him, he kicked me out. He was quite pissed.

wow, you can remember what all your teachers said about you?

I can only remember what my 9th grade science teacher said about me. Something about not recognising that I am part of the class when speaking to everyone.

It's possible she might have looked in her school records or her old report cards and looked at the teacher's comments. I don't know what mine said about me except my mother told me what my 4th grade teacher thought of me.He thought I was very smart and bright.

My 5th grade teacher said it was a pleasure to have me in his class and he kept everything concrete for me as possible.

My 10th grade art teacher said I get rude in her class

My high school choir teacher said I ask too many questions

In 11th grade the subsitiute teacher said I have cognitive thinking problems and problems with cognitive thinking skills and that's how I found out I have cognitive problems too because my mother told me after the IEP meeting.

Friends have told me that they have really fond memories of their first teacher.
I had the same teacher in kindergarten and first grade. She was a legend even amongst kids who'd never seen her because you could hear her yelling at her class halfway across the school.
One day in 1st grade, she decided I had ADD or something and sent me to the school psychologist. He put me in the gifted program, where I stayed more or less until the end of middle school.
Gradewise, I always scored just short of the overall honors kids. A's in anything requiring a lot of writing, C's in math, and therefore, science at a B.

There were a couple times in 8th and 9th grade when teachers irrationally blew up at me, not just in my opinion, but judging by the reactions of the other students.

Other random teacher comments include: "Umm...uh...he'snotastudent--he's not a student--he's...um" and "Okay, you have an interesting mind"
