|
|
This is a copy of the relevant information in the thread http://www.wrongplanet.net/asperger.html?name=Forums&file=viewtopic&t=7657 as of 12/13/05. It seems appropriate to have this information here as well; any additional information can be posted here, there, or in both places.
| vetivert wrote: | this thread is for people to post specific resources which can be used to help people who are having suicidal thoughts. these might be hotlines or websites in your local area, as we'd like to build up a database of resources to use if we need to. the resources need to be available online or by phone, if possible, so that they are easily accessible.
to prevent vulnerable members being deluged with well-meaning PMs and the like, we would ask that only named people forward any resources on to them.
please, please do not use this thread for discussing the topic - there are other threads for this - as it is for easily accessible resources only.
the format of your suggestion should go like this:

| The Samaritens Email service is useless, in fact two gobfuls of that pre written derge and I felt more like ending my life than before. All they were bothered about is was I suicidal, they kept asking that over again, that was all they seemed to write about, even though I fully explained I was in a lot of physical and emotional pain due to women's health issues, then basicaly they turned round and said they could not help me....GARBAGE. |

The Girls and Boys Town National Hotline ( 1-800-448-3000) is an excellent source when needing help. It is NOT just for kids.
Besides, they will contact the Crisis Services in your hometown, like in a conference call, to be certain you get the immediate help you need. |

800.366.1132.
That's the RESPOND hotline for East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia, although I guess anyone could call it.
They're really great to talk to when you have panic attacks (like I do) and they also do suicide counseling. _________________ "You must have chaos in your soul to give birth to a dancing star." - Nietzche. |

*Grumbles*
Discouraging people from committing suicide is inadvisable. ¬_¬
It is their own business and their own decision to make, and they should not be coerced out of it. |

Yeah, but most times they will change their minds if they are given encouragement and support with their issues. Suicide is a waste of life and devastating to the people left behind. I would only support suicide in cases where a person has a painful and deteriorating condition that medical science can't help at all. _________________ Break out you Western girls,
