I am Catholic but not devout being slowly more & more disillusioned after what has been happening in the Roman Catholic Church.

Really? Can you tell me why you feel disillusioned? I'm not very well-informed on events within the the Roman Catholic denomination. Especially in the international arena...  |

DRB,
The reason why I feel this way is because most Roman Catholic churches tell people to do this yet the Bible tells them to do that. So who do you go by?
For example, God tells everyone to love your fellow man regardless of whatever yet
most people are not doing just that, even if they are of a different religion.

You know, you've got a point there. If one claims to love God, it should follow that that love for God shows itself in how they live their life(including how they treat other people)In any event,I can speak only for myself. I believe the bible is God's word-- and because of that place caring for people before principles set by any particular group...Or did I completely miss your meaning? |

I'm a Protestant Christian who goes to a Baptist church here in South Africa. I made a re-commitment to Christ about a couple of months ago or so, and I (try) to walk closely with Him in a personal relationship. Every Christian stumbles and falls now and then, but God is there, ready and waiting to pick us up and dust us off.
Praise God!  It's great to hear the Name of Jesus and God mentioned on this forum. And even my old high school still say grace before each mealtime, unlike many other schools here.

Couldn't of said it better myself, I hate the fact that just because I was born in a catholic family in America I was marked catholic. I'm an atheist now though so I don't care |

| I am LDS and I think that it is very important to believe in something, whether it be God or Allah or Jupiter. Religion tends to provide a community of like-minded people, which is important for everybody, especially those who are different, like Aspies. In every group I've been to, there's always some former Mormon and it really hurts my feelings when they say how horrible Mormons are. Most of the people I know from church are good poeple and the bad ones are usually trying to be better. No one is perfect and I know that I tend to see that as hypocrisy, but I realize now that they just think and do things differently and in their own time. Not everyone can memorize scriptures and doctrine as fast as I can and I know that very few internalize everything they hear to make themselves as awesome as possible, but that is okay. I think any religion that teaches good principles is a good thing to have in your life. |

I like to compare religion/faith, especially christianity to the linux movement.
Essentially you've got several levels, much like pc/linux users.
Organized religion can be thought of like those who simply download a pre-compiled binary of software (pre-distilled lessons by the pastor) and run it on their machine (brain). You are getting some programming, but you have no idea what you are getting and it has been compiled by a source that can be potentially harmful. In that same essence, you get some rather wacky faiths out there such as the fundamentalist muslims and christians.....(and errors with your distro)
Then youv'e got the other type in which you must download the source and compile it yourself (read/ study the faith and come up with your own ideas). In this way, you get the maximum compatibility and performance for your configuration (best fits your life and works well). You are closer to the source and you've come up with your own ideas and can scrutinize the ideals you are applying to your life because it is you who has read and pondered over (read and compiled the source) them. |

Do you worship your religion or God?
The Jews who where definately Gods chosen people, well when God invited them to move into the next stage of his plan, turned out they Loved thier religion more than God and so got left behind.
If it could be shown that your religion was Satanic and resposible for many serious crimes against God, would you leave it to please God or would you leave God to please your religion?
Jesus knew in advance that the Devil would plant weeds amongst the wheat so he gave this warning about religion
"15 “Be on the watch for the false prophets that come to YOU in sheep’s covering, but inside they are ravenous wolves. 16 By their fruits YOU will recognize them. Never do people gather grapes from thorns or figs from thistles, do they? 17 Likewise every good tree produces fine fruit, but every rotten tree produces worthless fruit; 18 a good tree cannot bear worthless fruit, neither can a rotten tree produce fine fruit. 19 Every tree not producing fine fruit gets cut down and thrown into the fire. 20 Really, then, by their fruits YOU will recognize those [men].
21 “Not everyone saying to me, ‘Lord, Lord,’ will enter into the kingdom of the heavens, but the one doing the will of my Father who is in the heavens will. 22 Many will say to me in that day, ‘Lord, Lord, did we not prophesy in your name, and expel demons in your name, and perform many powerful works in your name?’ 23 And yet then I will confess to them: I never knew YOU! The worst thing about State religions, (apart from using you to kill for the state), is that they get you to worship the Babylonian Trinity whereas speak to any Jew and you will find the God of the Bible to be a Mono God, no wonder Jesus will say to most who worship thier religion, "get away from me, I never knew you". |

okie dokie...I'm a Lutheran and I have immense biblical studying background. The first thing I wanted to address is the fact there is no proof. YES THERE IS.
I can give numerous examples, but the point of the matter is God asks for "faith like that of a child" some would call it blind faith. It is to believe absolutely even when there is no proof. Now in this day and age that is a very hard thing to ask for, but those who are able to trust the Lord have nothing to fear.
There are so many miracles He has worked that people just choose to ignore. For example, Guideposts is a mini magazine full of stuff like that. I myself have seen small miracles God works in everyday life. Frankly, I would not be alive if it wasn't for Him. I could not live without the reassurance that He gives me everyday.
It's sad that so many people these days claim to be Christians, then walk out the door and completely forget and ignore what the bible teaches. These kind of people also give other Christians a bad rep. God tells us to "spread the good news" not shove it down other people's throats. So if you want to share your religion, fine. But you can't try to force other people to believe what you do. |

B) yes he did allow it to happen
C) all humans are born with original sin since the fall of adam and eve
D) it was humans' choice to cause the Holocaust
E) God allows humans to make their own choices even if they're bad |
