I'm sure some of you in college have heard of Facebook.com (formerly, thefacebook.com). It's a favorite pasttime of NTs, especially the most extroverted ones. For reasons unknown even to myself, I did create a profile on there. I have a total of maybe seven friends linked on there, and most of them are really acquaintances. Some people have over 100 friends listed. Most people have somewhere between 30 and 100.

By the way, facebook.com operates on a college-by-college basis. You can search for people who are in your classes. For example, if you like a girl but don't want to go through the bother of actually asking her if she already has a boyfriend, facebook.com is your friend! She might have indicated "In a relationship" on her profile. Beyond this and some other uses, most extroverted NTs use it to create mostly pointless "groups" that show some semblance of affiliation with an idea or often a silly catchphrase.

Does anyone else have a profile on facebook.com?

Yeah I'm on it also. Found all my old "friends" from highschool. People always talk about "hooking up" by using facebook, but I haven't figured out how that works. I really don't care to "hook up" with people from my highschool, since I dislike them.

Are you saying I am obsessively correcting typos on my profile and looking for crap to add my quotes which no one would read anyway because I'm bored?

Funny, I just heard of Facebook today in computer ethics class. I was the only one in the room who had not heard of it previously. Since I already have an account at MySpace--and I am anti-social enough there, so there is not really much use in putting my information on yet another socializing site.

Yeah! It's weird, isn't it? I can't believe how people have like 100 friends. It's kind of neat, though, that you can see all that info about people. It helps folks like us Smile

Yes, you can find out sensitive stuff like their political orientation and whether they're single or not without ever asking them!
