I have a bit of an odd laugh. Not so much that people are staring at me like "What the hell?" But it certainly has its signature.

By the by, one of my favorite comedies/movies of all time: CLUE. Awesome movie Very Happy

I kind of got a sense of humour when I turned eleven. For some reason I never really had one before that.

My aunt once commented that she thought it was strange that I don't laugh when I'm reading comics. I find them funny, but I just don't see the need to laugh.

I love puns and really lame jokes; I'm a crazy fan of The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy:

Arthur: What's so unpleasant about being drunk?
Ford: Try asking a glass of water.

Cracks me up every time. Wink

Clue and HGTTG are classics.

I don't laugh much at all externally. I used to before but I tend not to now. I laugh inside.

I don't like the new hitchhikers film.

I love slapstick standup comedy (Robin Williams and Monty Python rule), but I never get the gist of any sort of a "practical" joke.

You know those jokes, where somebody pretends to be serious or mean or hurtful, and then you react badly to it, and then they laugh because you reacted badly to it, and then they try to releave you because "it was just a joke", but you don't get it because you're still trying to adapt to the comment they made, which was ment to be "the joke". Mad

I also have a very bad problem with laughing at things in which most people think as foul, eg. swearing (from any person and in any possible context), and graphic violence (such as those bloody battles in Breaveheart and Saving Private Ryan). Despite being diciplined by both myself and my parents, this is still a very bad issue with me, and may possibly (I'm not certain about this) be due to AS. Embarassed

I don't generally like practical jokes, either. I also dislike bathroom humor as it's just gross, but it doesn't actually offend me, just kinda- yuk.

How true.

I like deadpan humor the best, although I do miss a lot of it. See Airplane! for a perfect expositstion of deadpan humor. . . Wink

But that's an entirely different matter altogether.

(("Clue" is anothet good example fo that kind of humor.))

The HHGTTG film would have been good if we had Trillian not acknowledging Arthur's existance, as it was in the book. But, since they had her know he was alive, it SUCKED. She was supposed to be a flaske and he was supposed to be a total loser. Also, MArvin is supposed to be paranoid/depressed, not manic depressive. He has UNIPOLAR depression, not bipolar. However, he was still my favorite character by far.

My trouble is that sometimes something that other people find only mildly amusing will strike me as absolutely hilarious. I'll be sitting there in class shaking and squeaking as I try not to laugh. Embarassed

Laughing at things commonly seen as not funny is becoming a new habit of mine. I'll just burst out laughing at someone or something, and everyone stares at me. I've been getting too used to people staring at me, it's weirding me out.

It actually wasn't as bad as some people made it out to be, though it could have done without the whole Arthur-Trillian-Zaphod love triangle. And I liked the 'So Long, and Thanks for all the Fish' song. The books were still better, though.

That's an almost universal truth.

Many times I don't get other peoples' jokes but I adore puns and have actually turned my literal nature into humor. For instance:

a fellow student was in the halls with me before German class and she and a friend were going to go outside and smoke some cigarettes (eck!) and she asked me "Will you watch my stuff while I'm gone??"

By now, I know this means instead "Will you make sure no one tries to take my stuff?" but not really said but implied in what she asked me. And I said with a smile "Sure. Do you want me to do anything if anyone actually tries to take it?" And she smiled back and said in good-humored sarcasm "Eh, no. Just watch it. They can have it if they really want."

But I don't really get punch lines. I use my humor for things I know can be taken literally and make humor out of those. I think I am quite good at it now, actually. Smile

Me too for the literal nature thing. I can't give any examples right now, though.
