I have a cold right now, and I'd like to know what the best remedy would be. I want to get over it, as fast as I can. I'd like to spend the evenings with my friends, again. Which is the best remedy for the common cold, and how long will it take for me to get better? _________________ Sid The Rat is everything that I stand for. | I take 'sutherlandia' herbal pills, when i feel an illness coming on - seems to have worked so far. They may have to be ordered over the net. |

I have found that the "artificially induced fever" works very well on a number of infections. Here is how you do it:
| Quote: | fix yourself a large, STRONG drink (yes, I do mean alcohol)
run a bathub of water as HOT as you can stand it
get into the tub and lay down
take a washcloth and put on your chest - keep the washcloth hot (pour hot water over it)
drink the drink while doing the above
once the water starts to cool off, get out of the tub and get dry
go to bed with every blanket you own on the covers and go to sleep - you will sweat like a pig all night
in the morning, you will wake up feeling damp and a bit drained, but the infection will break up and you can get the gunk out of your sinuses/chest
continue to drink as much liquid as possible and take 2000 mg of Vitamin C a day till it is all gone. |

You can buy it in herbal shops. |

Just drink plenty fluids like water and juices. No milk or any unhealthily drinks for sure. _________________ Each person gets his or her own freedom and passion one by one

| I use Zycam spray. It really works well for me. I get over the cold in three days. I used to feel bad and tired for a week when I had a cold. It's also a pain to have to get up constantly to blow your nose. |

| Lots of water, and lots of sleep get rid of every cold. Nyquil and Dayquil help the symptoms. |

For me:
1. No sugar.
2. Extra Sleep, while on Nyquil.
3. Gargle with Scotch Whiskey (or whatever you have that kills germs), and swallow. Do not rinse with water afterwards, because you don't want to dilute/wash away the alcohol.
4. If you have no sodium-related medical problems, eat LOTS of the saltiest thing you can find -- I prefer potato chips, because they lubricate (grease) AND salinate sore throats. Salt kills germs, so the saltier you can make your system, the less germs will survive. Don't go mad, just kick up your sodium pretty good temporarily.
Drinking alcohol's good too, but not too much or it weakens your immune system as well as killing germs. Just a shot or two.

When I start feeling symptoms of a upcoming cold I take Airborne. It's effervescent tables filled with vitamins and herbs. I dissolve a tablet in a small cup of water every 3 hours for about a day or two. It does help.
In the past I used Zicam Nose Gel but I did not like the reaction I would get. Sometimes when I used Zicam nose gel the symptoms would either get worse or my sinuses would feel weird. |

That stuff works for me. It shortens the symptoms and is good for your immune system. |

I used Zicam tablets and my cold went away in 4 days. You have to keep taking them after the symptoms are gone, but they're tasty. I also use Robitussin expectorant to keep my chest cleared. _________________ To eliminate poverty, you have to eliminate at least three things: time, the bell curve and the Pauli Exclusion Principle. Plenty of food, water, and rest. Everything else either just helps with the symptoms or is snake oil. _________________ My Blog: http://selzshaven.blogspot.com |

Gingerrroot shredded into a tea and steeped for 10 minutes then drunk works great for the muccus problems. It's really cheap to get, too!
I'm trying out Wild Oil of Oregano for a cold right now - it seems to be helping everything but the dizzyness/sleepiness.
Chicken soup is supposed to be good - real or artificial, from what scientists have found. After it's done cooking, chop up some garlic and throw it in so it doesn't get cooked. |
