Does anyone think that Mr. Bean (excellent brit. tv series 1990-1997) Has some autisitic qualities? His mannerisms are odd he is clearly intelligent and he does not speak much

I would not know where to place Mr Bean. He dosen't speak much, but on the other hand, does things that autistics would tend to avoid.

However, I do laugh myself hoarse nearly every time I watch that show

That and the Red Green show too.

I have heard that he based some of the characteristics on his autistic brother although I'm not quite sure how to take that.

While the lack of speech certainly adds to Mr. Bean's "clueless loner" character, I suspect that Rowan Atkinson and the writers chose the pseudo-mime avenue in order to make the work more internationally accessible.

He does have autistic tendencies, but I don't think he's autistic.

When I was little, I WAS SUCH A MR. BEAN JUNKIE! My mum recorded all of the episodes and I used to watch them over and over. Even though it's a little cliche, my favourite is the Christmas episode. I also own Mr. Bean's teddy!

Mr. Bean is a cankerous sore on an otherwise almost impeccable comedic career.... Rowan Atkinson, what on earth were you thinking...... Rolling Eyes

I love the Mr. Bean cartoons. Especially the one where he buys a packet of ketchup, but I can't find it online. And I love when he says, "Teddy!"

My favorite reaction was in the movie, when the other guy saw what he did to that priceless painting. Laughing
