Prince was an adjunct professor last I checked. She's essentially part time with no guarantee of renewal. There are a lot of NTs with PhDs in that situation too.
I very nearly started a PhD program this year, but I'm taking time to think about it first, |

I don't think that any of my prof's as an undergrad had AS. However, I am pretty sure that the one of the PhD's that I am doing research with now (topology/information theory/group theory) has AS. I think that being an Math/physics professor would be a suitable profession for one of our kind. Also, he is married, which gives me hope. _________________ Amor Fati! |

| I had a Political science professor who I'm fairly certian had it. I took two of his classes. He was very forgetful when it came toremembering chalk and exams and his office is littered with books and papers, but he had a phenominal memory. He would mention a study who conducted it what college they were a part of. He was obsessed with voting statistics, congress and the military industrial complex and once someone got him started on a topic he liked he'd spend the entire class talking about it instead of the scheduled material. |

| I know of one professor with Aspergers becaause he told me. We're great friends, and I go to him for advice on living in the "real world." I have a couple professors I strongly suspect are AS. |

Hi!
I just joined Wrong Planet, and this is a great site! I am one of the profs with an autism spectrum disorder. I am an Assistant Professor in Health Sciences at Indiana State University (I worked at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville until August 2008). It looks like there's a lot of discussion about the "Little Professor Syndrome" which is great! If you have any questions, please feel free to contact me any time! Best wishes! Maureen |

I'm another of the "depends on the job market" hopeful professor-in-waiting. The dissertation will be completed (draft) by November 30, I get to make revisions through January 31, and in the meantime I'm also balancing the teaching / job hunt life of a grad student.
The market is weak, but it's never great thanks to an oversupply of professors in many fields. If I end up doing something else, that's going to be okay. I realize I have to be flexible after watching the last batch of grads struggle. Life is what it is...
That raises issues of disclosure, which I'm not sure how I might address if I land any interviews this winter. Tough question to ponder, even though universities claim to be tolerant / accommodating. _________________ - C. S. Wyatt
