Does anyone have a strong attachment to particular colours and a strong dislike of other colours?

I am strongly attached to bright primary and secondary colours including blue, lime green, red, yellow, and pink, pastels, and black and silver, but I have a strong dislike (almost loathing) for beiges, creams, all shades of brown, and sometimes orange.

I used to like brighter colors than I like now. Now I like more pastels. I don't like brown, olive green, bright yellow, orange, and a few other colors.

Yellow = urine, pus, bile, withering heat, jaundice - the color of sickness and death.

It's interesting that a lot of people don't like yellow/brown/orange. I actually like yellow, but I think it's because yellow reminds me of the sun and light.

For me it all depends on the shade. When I took that color personality test I have a hard time because all the color squares are so pukey institutional looking. I love cerulean blue/ don't like navy unless it's clear.

Mine are actually very similar to yours... Bright greens and dark greens and pink, particularly.. black and silver are good too. Razz

Not so big on orange.. unless it's in fire. I like fire. Campfires are probably the only place I've ever felt good and happy around people.

I love blue, to an extent that people remark on it as odd. If there's an item (such as a piece of clothing) I normally wouldn't like, I will be much readier to accept if if it's blue. It's almost as if being blue gives something positive points which will cancel out other sorts of negative points.

Lab Pet likes autumn colors, such as brick reds (probably favorite), gold, shades or orange & peach. I like green a lot! And certain chocolate browns. (Eeek, sorry to break the pattern)!

I used to loathe the color blue. Blue is all right in small doses & I do like blue worn by other people (Lab Pet has green eyes; blue just doesn't match-up with me). I dislike blue-gray! I don't like seafoam-green or light shades of tan. Mostly rich colors.

sunshower: I know your question is mostly 'just for fun' but there is a known phenomenon with no explanation, cited in various journals, ancedotal evidence by neuro/psych professionals, etc (ie: I'm not just guessing) but those with schizophrenia, in general, have a STRONG preference to what is termed "sour colors," such as lime green, 'acid' yellow, fluorescents, even 'shock' blue or turquoise. Why - who knows? But there is a correlation even if meaningless diagnostically.

I have read/heard of certain practitioners who are curious about color preference w/ respect to ASD, but no idea. We do know certain ASD individuals can have certain strong likes & aversions (even at extreme levels) for certain colors. Such as in the book Curious Incident of the Dog in the Nighttime (did I get the title correct?) - the main character, Autistic, intensely hated orange.

We know about certain ASD people who exclusively wear just a narrow range of colors & may even decorate their living space with strict color regimes.

But...would never want to draw spurious conclusions. Just interesting though. And WHY so many WP inhabitants have written about colors, in a myriad of aspects.

At work they found out I didn't do a particular task and upon investigation I finally got them to realize the colors of the paper used to do the task were abhorrent to me. It made me wonder how many other choices I made simply because of a choice between colors I could abide and colors I could not. I live in Oregon because I love the color green this forest land is. I enjoyed Minneapolis for it's cosmopolitan atmosphere, but I could not bear the brilliant white of the winters.

I like natural colors like blue and green. Don't like red tho.

Just out of curiosity, does anybody have ability to see light spectrums outside the normal spectrum humans can see? Infra-red or ultraviolet for example, lol.
