What is it that troubles you? Is it the patronizing tone of the page? I would agree.

Overall, however, I find the things for which prayer is requested here to be good things, in and of themselves, although i find the tone and effect (not the reference to prayer, but the attitude) to be very discomforting.

When I first started reading it, I was afraid it was going to be a "miracle cure" kind of thing. I did not see that, happily.

I didn't find the page discomforting. Although the page's design looks a little unprofessional, the tone of the request for prayer seems sincere.

I have to wonder what talking to yourself is supposed to accomplish.

Quite a bit sometimes. It's called meditation.

very patronising,,,I want no prayers from these people. If they want to help us, they should send us money.

Okay, here you go:

TOM, GIVE IT A BREAK.

How's that?

I looked at the page. It sounds like they are trying to do something to unify people, to make them think of others, to think charitable thoughts divorced from the "poor me" syndrome so many on the spectrum get stuck in.

I don't agree with their idea of prayer, personally. One saint said that if you are praying for anything to change or for your desires, you are praying amiss. That's my idea as well.

I don't know whether you meant it to come across this way, but your terse post seems to sneer at what these people are doing. Question

It's patronising and completely unhelpfull... what, our lives have been difficult up till now, but now people are praying God's suddenly gonna help us?

I don't think it was that patronizing... I don't think prayer would do anything by itself, but there was nothing about that list that made me feel angry or looked-down on. I thought it was tasteful

I thought it was a kind gesture. I'll take the prayers, just knowing that someone is taking the time to pray for us is enough to make me at least feel the least little bit cared about.

Money cant even get me that.

I think it's completely pointless, but I don't think it's patronising.

This is interesting. Very. You have to expound: what *exactly* is my sort? Very Happy

I apolisise for my offensive tone. The fact is I was miserable growing up in church and I can't get over it.

I accept your apology whole-heartedly. Your honesty, humility, and poinant self-analysis are inspiring.

That's facinating what you wrote. My father--an aspie--is the same way. He was forced into church as a boy because his mother thought it would do him good. He grew up to have a vehement dislike of all organized religion and much of spirituality. He made very sure that my mother didn't force me to go anyplace and sit still if I didn't want to. At times, he carried it a bit far.

I still can't go to church. I'm not part of any organized religion. I have trouble sitting still. I don't find services comforting or inspiring.
