i eat three normal sized meals, i try to incorporate vegetables into my diet, and i don't eat a lot of red meat. my problem is carbs and sugar.

i'm 5'6" and i weigh about 160. but my body fat percentage is close but not quite at the unhealthy level yet (30%).

i'm just wondering if there are any other aspies out there who aren't borderline anorexic? am i the only aspie who likes food?

Ah, you are not alone in an appreciation of food... while I don't have the same desire for experimenting and trying new foods you do (my tastes are quirky, and affected by some food allergies), I do love certain flavors and combinations. At the same time, I've lost 93 pounds since the start of 2008 and have almost reached my initial target weight, which is well below the indications for obesity. One does not necessarily beget the other - just takes effort, preparation and application to ensure balance.

Hi and welcome.

I'm a little porky myself though not necessarily overweight ... ok, perhaps a bit.

Anyway, I love chocolate.

I got a free nutritionist consultation and so went along, got reviewed and was told that "there is absolutely no nutritional value in anything you eat".

I take that as a compliment. Very Happy

Me too--and once I try one I like (and there are very few I don't), I just want to eat it every day until the next "new" food comes along! Yum... Chef

I eat like a fatso, but my metabolism is so fast that I'm nothing but bone and muscle. I don't even get that much excercise and I'm in bad shape, but I'm just not fat.

I had that same metabolism at 16. Somewhere around 36 it slowed way down..

Yeah, I'm fat. And no, I'm not ashamed of it.

It began in childhood, of course - part comfort eating, and part that I got acid reflux from my father's side of the family, but back in the day nobody could/would diagnose such a disorder in a child, so I always thought it was just being hungry (and of course the pain would be quieted with a chocolate bar or two...).

Today I suppose I could try to work the weight off - but why? My wife loves me for my brain, and besides, even if she did dump me I'm too old to start over... Smile

(BTW, Boomshika, if that's a good pic of you, I can't see a darn thing wrong with your appearance!)

I am overweight and do eat a lot.

I find food a great thing when I have those low moments. I also eat erratically when I get nervous (e.g. before exams or job interviews). I have tried cutting back but food always get the upper hand.

This is the perfect description of me and food. Mr. Green I used to be very particular about food when I was young, but in my teens I explored food a lot more and now I eat almost anything and everything. I'm also a bit overweight but not obese (5'11" 190lb.). Boomshika you look great!

No you are not alone. I'm fat.

No excuses except that I have a chronic pain condition or 3.

I also have Chronic fatigue.

I have also just spent the best part of the last 11 years getting my 2 ASDian sons health and development issues right and have completely wrecked my own health in the process.

Now my boys are right I can relax some what and start on my own health and weight.

Then I can possibly go back to work for the first time in 12 years and start saving for all of our futures.

Better stop talking about it and just get on and do it LOL Laughing

thanks for the love, everybody! even though logically i know i don't look fat, i can actually get ridiculously insecure about my weight. guess i needed the reassurance.

the society puts ridiculous emphasis on unnaturally thin bodies, especially for women.

Boomshika... from your avatar you look gorgeous, and not overly fat at all. ]

I'm five foot ten, and currently 179 pounds. So I'm a hefty girly. Who cares? I like my food, when I can eat. Why not enjoy it?

That's not a good thing in any way, if you don't get enough exercise you increase the risk of lifestyle diseases, and you will have a harder time doing a few things as well, but strangely, the Aspie stereotype compared to people with TS for example is more overweight, one of the reasons may be an unhealthy lifestyle, with hamburgers, McDonalds etc., I know an aspie who eats an incredibly big amount of fastfood a usual weekend, he looks pregnant with a bad combination of having skinny legs and arms.
