Yeah, it often seems like that.
I don't like to think upon it too often though.

What if the dreamer woke up?

Can dreams dream of the dreamer?

Perhaps.

And perhaps there is more than one grand dreamer, and they take turns sleeping, so that we dreams may not .... oh, I dunno, disappear?

Do androids dream of electric sheep?

...Anyway, the earlier punch argument is invalid because a hallucinated punch could have hallucinated pain.
But I don't need to prove my own existence and you don't need to prove yours; if it's all an illusion, then it's incredibly consistent and I say let it continue.

I seem to remember a SZS episode where the dream characters disocver they are in a dream and decide to kill the dreamer, insuring they live on.

This thought has entered me several times, and I remember seeing things like shows and some story's that have had simular matter. But I either put it down to egotistsic, or "I think, therfore I am".

But I belive the series that my current avatar is from deals with a conected subject matter. (spoiler) In the series it discovered an eccentric girl doesn't want a boreing life and wishes to meet time travelers, Espers, sliders and Aliens. Under the unfortunate advice of a schoolmate she decides to start a club to look for them, and inlists a silent girl, a cute girl and a mysterous transfer student and the guy finds out that they are infact a time traveler, alien or esper. And aparently may only exist due to her wish for them to, though it is even theorised that the world itself may be three years old and other crazy things hapen. And even crazier is when she begins to confuse reality with fiction and they find things change as acording to what she starts to belive is reality like beam shooting contact lense or a talking cat. actualy one of the characters makes it his business to state several theories about what is reality and if it could be just a dream.

It's strange, but every now and there's a part of me that feels like everything is either a dream or an artificial reality, and this started long before The Matrix. I also get the feeling when I drive, that I couldn't possibly be old enough to drive a car and that I shouldn't be there. But...both thoughts pass as quickly as they arrive, and life goes on.

My defence against pure solipsism is straightforward - if everyone else is just a figment of your imagination, you have to accept the idea that you, personally, are responsible for every piece of art, every song book picture film everything you've ever seen, and that if necessary you can create them in realtime in large numbers (think of walking through the door into a room full of paintings at an art gallery, for instance). If you feel you're that creative, do be a solipsist. Smile

(strictly, our visual focus isn't all that large, so you could argue that the art gallery example isn't a good one because you only really see one painting at a time; but the principle is that you could, if you wanted to, saturate your senses with many different works of art, simultaneously, up to their full bandwidth, which would require a creative capacity far beyond the amount you, or anyone else, can exhibit voluntarily)

Another thought I have is how do I know at any given moment my past is a total falacy. All my memoris could just be some kind of illusion, or any number of memories could be incorrect giving me a life that never was. How do I know that I might have got my entire memory rewriten for some crazy scheme, or how do I know that I am not some great actor I am fooling myself and I am some evil villain. Or I could be some spy that everything up to now is just been implanted in my head, fake school photos, like that Arnold Schwatzerneger film.

95 percent of the time I am far and away the smartest person in the room. When I meet someone smarter than me, I cherish the experience. Being smarter than everyone else (or almost everyone else) can get to be a drag after a while.

Sorry, but I'm only a fictional construct.

Your perception of me is real. Even if you are not real then you are part of me in which case my perception of you is the same as your perception of me.

Either you exist as something outside of me, in which case if you respond to this then I know you perceive me, or you and I are the same, in which case the fact that I perceive you means that you(which is also me) perceive me(which is also you).

But how can you know ypu undertand what you percive, who knows the existance of some kind of spatial angker fish (perception is obscured or tricked). It is like when you look in a mirror, lesser or simpler minds think that there is someone looking back, is there the possibility of soething simular, but a lot more complex.

You must be mad, or else you wouldn't have come here.
