Except, uhh, not... I know a lot of muslims (NJ has the largest muslim percentage of total population of any US state), and they're quite normal... sure they have slightly different dress and dietary requirements than we're used to, but they're jerks and saints like any other group of human beings... |
I know, I was talking about the stereotype. just like the guy above did with Thai women. _________________ not a bug - a feature.

Indeed but what does Janissy have to do with my post?
I assume you are responding to me?
or
Just a blantant attempt at insult I'm assuming since you do that a lot here.... |
We are both Western women, so I suppose we can be assumed to be interchangeable with each other. Just as Eastern women are being portrayed here as interchangeable with each other.
For the record, I didn't post in this thread prior to being misconstrued as MissConstrue (hehe) because I don't think there is some sweeping generalization that can be made about Western men, other than the obvious geographical one that they are in the West. |
Yeah that's what I thought since I didn't see your name in here.
Very predictable Whiskey but if you want to play these childish games, you've pretty much proven the point I made in my thread earlier. _________________

I kinda interpreted the intent to be silly.. When you admit that you're just listing stereotypes that don't necessarily apply anyways, what else would it be? _________________ Envy, is admiration in denial. --DaWalker

Just a thread about stereotypes. I'd like to know what the stereotypes are of Western men versus other men, as we've heard about women in various parts of the world.
President Obama's mother was attracted to non-Western men. Some Southeast Asian women may be more attracted to Western men than to men from their own countries. There may be a certain amount of prestige attached to landing a Western husband.
Do Western Women, in large part, prefer Western men, men of a different culture, or just no men at all? |

There is no "in large part". There is no applicable generalization. |

there is no rule. I've met people (of both genders) who were only attracted to exotic looking men/women, some who were only attracted to what they knew and many, many people who were attracted to anything with a pulse. _________________ not a bug - a feature.

The later causes endless grief for the former unfortunately because they set the rules and defense mechanisms of the whole game (though I'd expand exotic into esoteric - knowing what you want, who you'd be right for in terms of offering something back, etc.) |

I think it's more prestige in landing a wealthy husband.. like how a lot of women want to marry a doctor. (Picturing Rachel Greene.. LOL) _________________ Envy, is admiration in denial. --DaWalker

They forgot how to be "men". How to stand for a set of principles, be willing to speak their mind and understand the words of honor and duty.
Too many times people have forgotten what it took to get to where they're at. The sacrifices for freedom, the dedication of their forebearers and the understanding of history.
Fear of not being PC enough. Fear of not being what society wants. Fear of saying and then thinking the wrong thing.
Western society is now mostly populated by boys. This leaves little exposure to true role models. |

This is repulsive. I realize we are all mildly autistic but are we insane? I've been here for a day and I already feel like vomiting.
It's not okay to objectify or degrade Western men to make up for the objectification and degradation of Western women. It's not okay to objectify or degrade Eastern men to make up for the objectification and degradation of Eastern women. I won't accept that just because you're an aspie male/female (woe is me) you can't empathize with the opposite sex or let alone see them as real persons.
I'm surprise half these threads haven't been deleted already. G'day. |

Larnad, definitely don't leave though. I think when people get scared off by this kind of stuff it keeps the quality of content from getting better.
As for deleting threads like this - we have to be careful how many rules we lay down in terms of what's ok to say, what isn't, too much further and we're in a position where more of our deletions are technical rather than content based. It would be best if we were able to improve the conversational bottom line to where no rules are needed as such. |

Do you believe in censorship? The control of thoughts and opinions?
Or is it better to have a free exchange of ideas and discussion? The idiotic ideas are readily identified and dealt with by a diminishing audience. The good ones shine forth and stand the scrutiny of inspection.
Please read why free speech is important, and to paraphrase Voltaire, "I disapprove what you say, but I will defend your right to say it" |
