I've taken it in the past, and felt immediate relief from fear and anxiety. After a bit I got annoyed that I wasn't thinking clearly anymore, so I stopped taking it cold turkey. I didn't find it difficult to give up, but I do know lots of people who found it very hard.
It's a great short term drug. |

| LOL! I took it since I freak out over IV needles I was calmer and not as panicky before surgery but I threw up before and after surgery. It was funny I sat up and they said what's wrong I said I'm going to be sick and then vomited into one of those small bucket things they asked if I was ok I said yes then vomited AFTER the surgery aswell. Without it I'm panicky looking around freaking out in tears FULL ON MELTDOWN MODE! AWFUL! (heart racing or it feels that way anyway LOL!) |

I was prescribed dazzies for a few weeks and it was awesome.  I have heard that they are terribly addictive, and I can see why.

its highly addictive
I had something similar: oxazepam, made me go wild, could not stop talking when I took them. So not the desired calming effect. |

I take Valium but I only take it when I have a panic attack. I think it would be something to avoid if you have an addictive personality or if you find yourself taking them everyday. If you only take them occasionally you will not build up tolerance and you will not get addicted. It really depends on the person, I think.
I am physically addicted to pain meds (Percocet) because I have something wrong with my back and my pelvis. I had surgery in September and I am still in serious pain. As a matter of fact Im having a CT scan today. Hopefully they will find something. I dont like taking meds everyday and I would like to be off my pain meds...and it would be nice to be out of pain! |

I have a prescription to it. Full bottle sitting around somewhere. Personally, I don't like it. It was given to me because it's a muscle relaxer and I hold tension. It helped me fall asleep but I would wake up and have low blood pressure, not fun.
I don't get the good feeling from it as others have said. I don't enjoy stuff like valium, xanax, adderol (different effect, but still), etc. I'm more likely to get addicted to a pain killer, maybe opiates. |

| They don't make you feel "good" unless you are feeling stressed/anxious. How good you feel is proportional to how stressed/anxious you are. Getting sudden relief from anxiety is quite euphoric. If you're already feeling OK you'll pretty much just feel a bit drowsy (depending on how much you took). |

Valium is only used for short term relief of anxiety as it is HIGHLY addictive...and do not drink any alcohol when taking Valium as it can kill you. Valium and alcohol taken together caused the death of the rising, young film actor, Heath Ledger.
It is also, a drug given just before surgical procedures as it is a muscle relaxant. |

| I took it for a while when I was having bad muscle spasms in my back and the Flexeril wasn't working. I only took it after work when I would not be driving or doing anything requiring fine motor skills. I felt so wonderful on it that I thought about asking for more even when I didn't have the spasms LOL. That is what tipped me off that I probably shouldn't get any more. I have not taken it since, but I do remember that time fondly. |

Yeah.
I've been taking one 5 mg. tablet a day for...a long time. Sometimes don't need it, so I don't take it.
50% of people supposedly get addicted to it. I can stop taking it without effect, so I guess I'm in the other 50%.
Usually, it's the sedative effects people desire, rather than the anti-anxiety effect; the problem is that the sedative effects go soon after taking it, so you need to take more and more to get the same effect. This is why it's not prescribed as a sleeping tablet anymore.
You don't get a tolerance to the anti-anxiety effects, so it's cool there.
You can drink alcohol with it (sensibly). What you can't do is OD on it and others at the same time, in addition to drinking a lot. |

Extremely addictive. (I think i hear an echo... so take that to heart)
It stops a panic attack dead in it's tracks... usually 5 to 10 minutes.
Because of it's addictive nature, i'll only take when I am having one, or I know one is coming on and i can't stop it (and that's only when i'm in the situation that stops me from taking other (non medical) measures to stop it)
Example, staying in a small hot, sweaty motel room with 4 other people, while having to tend to a baby, (half hour walks are out of question)
*shiver* okay, just talking about that puts me close. |

| My alcoholic girlfriend used to swear by Valium for the DTs, and she once gave me a few tabs. They didn't have any noticeable effect on me and I guess I didn't take enough to get me hooked. |

I have found them a life saver. I was put on Prozac due to aniexty but, in my opionion they made me sooo much worse, I even started haveing suicideal thoughs and ended up in hospital.
Since taking the Valium I have been v tired and un-cordordinated but I have been able to eat, sleep and feel soo much better. I know they are only a short term solution but for me they lifted me out of a v v dark place.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh . . . Mother's Little Helper! We used to be VERY good friends, back when I was in High School and my dad had pretty much unlimited refills on his prescription! 
Seriously, though - this is a serious drug. Treat it with the utmost respect, because that little pill can kick your ass without trying. Trust me on this one - I know what I'm talking about.
Very, very addictive. Very, very easy to abuse. Very, very dangerous when abused. Absurdly dangerous if abused while drinking.
